When Doubts Arise... what does it mean to still believe? How do I remain faithful even when I doubt? What if the ascent of faith is not a journey away from doubt, but one in spite of doubt? What would it look like to lay all I have, including my doubts, at the feet of Jesus? How do I faithfully wrestle with my uncertainties while I wait for the Lord? These are the questions I seek to explore as I meditate on the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120 through 134). Each chapter includes my own translation of the psalm from Hebrew. I then provide a proposed literary structure--a section that can be skipped for those bored by such things. The meditation follows as I write about doubt, faith, waiting on God, his promises, trusting him, seeking him, and his presence with us while we wait. The epilogue includes a piece of the story of my own wrestling with doubts as I wrote the book.
What do you do when your marriage is over? What if, despite both being Christians and wanting to honor Christ with your marriage, you just cannot make it work? What if your Christian marriage story ends in divorce? That was where our story seemed to be ending. But God... A Marriage Testimony is our story of learning to love one another as husband and wife through God's heart: both the Biblical theology and practical application of such. This book is my reflection on our marital struggles and the revelations God gave in our season of breakthrough that changed everything. These involved replacing cycles of destruction with practices of seeing and understanding one another as God sees us, reflecting God's love as exemplified through Christ in how we love one another, being captivated by the Kingdom vision King Jesus sets before us, bearing faithful witness of God's love through Gospel-proclaiming marriage relations, bearing spiritual fruit in our marriage, intimating God's heart to one another and to others, and always reaching out to one another in love, especially during conflict. When we listen to God's words, see through his eyes, love through his heart, and trust in his ways, that is when we see the hope we are to hold on to, striving ceases, and we claim the breakthrough we already have freely in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray the Lord releases breakthrough for others too through our testimony.
