Trichoderma

- A Potential BCA inducing drought tolerance in crop plants

Om Trichoderma

Drought is the most important limiting factor for crop production and is becoming an increasingly severe problem in many regions of the world. In addition to the complexity of drought itself plant¿s behavioural responses to drought are complex and different mechanisms are adopted by plant when it encounters drought. Incorporation of Trichoderma in many cereals has been found to improve drought response. Therefore, in this book authors have tried to underpin the mechanisms underlying Trichoderma induced drought tolerance in crop plants. This book covers the bene¿cial activities attributed to Trichoderma-plant interactions includes induced disease resistance, plant growth promotion and tolerance to drought stress. Mechanisms involved in the alteration of drought response by Trichoderma include drought avoidance through morphological, physiological and biochemical adaptations and enhanced drought recovery. The present book provides relevant information to students, scientists, planners, administrators, practitioners and farmers with latest pertinent references and can act as a valuable source for filling the gap that is prevailing in the knowhow of mechanism of drought tolerance.
