It all started in August 2006 when the real estate market began to collapse in the Sarasota, Florida area. It was almost two years before the rest of the nation caught up, and also totally collapsed. Timothy Carr had planned to retire and live 'The Good Life.' Instead, he was flat broke and owed other people money. Slowly the reality of his situation began to sink in. No job. No home to live in. No credit. And no one was hiring. That's a lot of "NOs" to deal with. He wanted to shut off the lights and hibernate in a corner, but he didn't have a corner to hibernate in. That's when he discovered that, in Downtown Sarasota, you could moor a boat at no cost - it was free! That got him looking around for boats. He had been looking in the classified section of the newspaper and had seen several boats available. One ad read: "26-foot motorsailer, free to a good home". And that's how he became a "liveaboard" at O'Leary's Tiki Bar and Grill, located inside Island Park, just south of Marina Jack's, on the harbor side of Sarasota. O'Leary's is a rather unique place, and it took Timothy some time to settle in to becoming a liveaboard. Since he was now moored out in the bay in his own boat, coming and going every day, he met many new people, offering him interesting peeks into the lives of those who drifted through. Timothy soon discovered that he never knew who he would be talking to. One day, it would be someone down and out on their luck. The next day, it could be a celebrity or multi-millionaire taking a break from his or her 60-foot yacht. This is what made it so interesting being around O'Leary's and getting to "live the good life" there. And, oh, the tales he tells ... PRAISE FOR LIVING THE GOOD LIFE AT O'LEARY'S: "Such a wonderfully poignant tale of how life always brings you the people you need to survive and thrive, forever and always coming full circle. And as a Sarasotan once myself, I fell in love with the magic it holds all over again. Looking forward to the next book in this series!" --- D. D. Scott, Bestselling Author ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Timothy Carr has held many (many) different jobs - from working as a laborer to supervising 12 convenience stores with over 76 employees. He also managed restaurants, a Radio Shack, A Pizza Hut, and a coin shop. Some of his friends asked him "who are you to write a book?" His answer was that he had gotten to know so many wonderful people at O'Leary's (and throughout Sarasota, Florida) that he wants the world to get to know them, too.
In this short story collection, Gary Troia shares his adventures, travels and memoirs from his life."Excellent! A collection of short stories about: depression, alcoholism and drug use. Very compelling reading. I read this short story collection all in one go." (Maria, Goodreads.) "Gary manages to take the mundanities of life and elevate them to brilliance. in this short story collection" (Sara Fell) "Author, Gary cements growing reputation...A Bricklayer's Tales touches on real-life experiences in the building trade." ( Salina Patel, Hounslow Cronicle) Anyone who has ever done building work for brutal wage slavery and wondered if they were going mad, will recognise the life of Ray Dennis, (Troia's alter ego) which evokes a vision of mind-numbing, soul-destroying workplaces and workmates. His is the voice of discord for the marginally employed, the creatively frustrated working Joe, who turns to a life of drink and drugs to elevate the monotony of life. Few have brought this world to life with such despair, black humour and indifference as Gary Troia. He paints a beautifully sad portrait of a truly messed up person with potential, struggling to keep his messed up mind from drowning in cheap wine and self-loathing. Ray's spirit is trapped in a world of endless grey mundanity. A Bricklayer's Tales is the ultimate "I hate this job" story, written as a collection of short stories and memoirs, each one containing a snapshot of the life of Ray. Troia captures the tedium of working in a low paid, menial job and living hand to mouth. This book of short stories is sad and questions the reader to ask questions about their own life. This book achieves clarity without trying. Ray has three expensive hobbies: drinking, drugs, and running away. Without the income that Bricklaying provides, he would not be able to maintain his chosen lifestyle, so he compromises his principles and continues with his trade. A collection of short stories and memoirs that include: Angel Dust, the peculiar story of a man whose new life in America leads to conversations with Ancient Greek philosophers Mrs McClintock, an absurd farce in which a Glaswegian couple retire to Spain A Bricklayer's Tale, the story of a disillusioned, alcoholic bricklayer What I Did In My Summer Holidays In 1000 Words, could having an idea ever be considered a criminal act? My Grandfather's Shed, the making of an English key Peyote, hippies, LSD and an idyllic refuge Return Ticket, handcuffed and ready for deportation. A sad departure from the States The Day My Soul Left Me, "to be or not to be? That is the question" Advert In The Art Shop Window, will a new building job in Spain be the start of a new life? The Unchangeable Chameleon, can a leopard change it's spots? A collection short stories and memoirs of British dark humour.

It's about my life before I was saved and all the struggles that I went through because of a lack of knowledge from the word of God that led to wrong choices and wrong relationships. It's a story of restoration from the Lord Jesus. In my story, you will discover how God changed my life and anointed me with His power to heal the sick, cast out demons, and use me for His glory, etc. to change other people's lives. If God can take someone like me with a messed-up life and turn it around and use it for His glory, He can use you too. Whatever struggles you have had in your life God Can change your life too. I would like to encourage you to surrender your life to the Lord and allow Him to make something beautiful with it as He did for me.
In 1969 a young Dan Nolen produced a small book of his poems. Here we reissue those poems in a new book.
In My Mother's Shadow is a reflection on a childhood overshadowed by a mentally ill parent, in a strictly Brethren home in 1960s¿70s Dunedin, New Zealand. Not shared till now, Debby's story is one of loss, suffering, abuse and ultimately, determination. In Debby's debut book, she tells her story of losing her Father at age seven, and being raised alone by her Mother who suffered from Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Religious delusions. In an increasingly abusive and strictly religious environment, Debby fought her way out from under her Mother's shadow. She hopes that in telling her story, she is able to bring these festering events out into the light, exposing them for what they were, and hopefully reaching out to others who may resonate with her experiences.

Ratliff shares her experiences to connect with others who have traveled their own winding paths to faith and to prompt readers to reflect on what being of the spirit means to them. Amanda stresses, "I don't want to proselytize. I just want to share how my faith, how being born-again-in the fullest sense of the term-has changed, informed, and guided my life spiritually, personally, and even professionally." Amanda also encourages readers to share their own spiritual rebirth stories on the Butter Bread platform. "I truly believe we should share our stories, visions, and dreams with one another and document each new victory. Through these stories we can build a community where we can both inspire and be inspired by one other each and every day."
