The main topics of the book are traumatic experiences, stress processing and dyslexia with some new perspectives on this old phenomenon. The interdisciplinary character of this book is represented in contributions of scientists from different areas of psychology, special education, and linguistics.
The main topics of this book relate to dyslexia, traumatic experiences, strain and stress experiences, and some special methodical problems regarding qualitative research methods. The international and interdisciplinary team includes authors from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Sudan, South Africa, South Korea, Iran, China, Portugal, and Germany.
The book contains selected interdisciplinary contributions from the international workshop Historical and Cross-Cultural Aspects of Psychology, held in Leipzig in 2009. It intertwines basic research with applied work to promote scientific exchange between different countries and the different branches of psychology.
The book is integrating articles from the field of learning disabilities. It is reflecting new aspects of trauma, resilience and coping with stress. In the last chapter are articles about violence, peace building and disaster management.
