This work gathers classic, influential, and important papers in environmental philosophy from the late 1960s and early 1970s (when academic environmental philosophy began to coalesce) to the present. The volumes explore environmental ethics, epistemological, metaphysical, and comparative worldview questions raised by environmental concerns.

Environmental policy has been defined as 'a set of principles and intentions used to guide decision-making about human management of environmental capital and environmental services'. Although it draws on concepts from environmental philosophy and environmental politics, environmental policy is distinctive in its problem-solving orientation.
