Examining how people relate to objects, this book focuses on every day objects and how these objects enter into our activities over the course of time. It uses a combination of different theoretical approaches, including actor network theory, ecological psychology, cognitive linguistics and science and technology studies.

The spread of places, such as theme parks, shopping malls and revamped historic areas, necessitates a redefinition of the concept of 'place' from an architectural perspective. This work categorizes these invented places according to the different phenomenological experiences they are able to provide.
