Aimed at people working in solid mechanics, this book offers a coherent treatment of the theory of propagation in materials of nonlinearly elastic waves of displacements, corresponding to one modern line of development of nonlinear theory of elastic waves.
This book presents a unified introduction to the theory of mechanical vibrations. The presented examples are aimed at helping the readers with understanding the theory. This book is of interest among others to mechanical, civil and aeronautical engineers concerned with the vibratory behavior of the structures.
Main Equations and Relations of the Theory of Non-Symmetric Elasticity.- Bending of Plates.- Somme Trivial Problems of Plates.- Membrein Theory of Shells.- Theory of Very Shallow Shells.- Some Other Aspects of the Theory of Plates and Shells.
For the first time, the Micropolar Theory of Elasticity is applied to solving a wide variety of problems connected to the specifics of nanomaterials. Namely, their unique physical-mechanical characteristics and behaviors under various stress-induced conditions. These theories have been constructed based on the equations of the classical theory of elasticity as well as other equations that have till now remained untouched in their application to molecular theories of solid deformable media. The book also introduces a new applied micropolar theory of thin shells which is based on Cosserat's pseudo-continuum. It explores the theory¿s application to a category of nanomaterial shells and plates previously neglected from classical theories due to their unconventional size and structure. Theoretical results are accompanied by solutions of certain problems, essential for various applications. The book consists of six chapters. The first chapter is a review of the essentialdata on the non-symmetric theory of elasticity. The second and third chapters are devoted to various theories of plate bending and solutions to some basic problems. Chapter four refers to membrane or, so-called, momentary shell theory. Chapter five deals with the theory of very shallow shells. Finally, chapter six presents the geometry of the nonlinear theory of plates and the theory of very shallow shells. The book is intended for researchers, postgraduate students, and engineers, interested in the design of structures from nanomaterials and in the problems of mechanics of deformable bodies, theories of shells and plates, and their applications in micromechanics.
Available for the first time in English, this two-volume course on theoretical and applied mechanics has been honed over decades by leading scientists and teachers, and is a primary teaching resource for engineering and maths students at St. Petersburg University. The course addresses classical branches of theoretical mechanics (Vol. 1), along with a wide range of advanced topics, special problems and applications (Vol. 2). Among the special applications addressed in this second volume are: stability of motion, nonlinear oscillations, dynamics and statics of the Stewart platform, mechanics under random forces, elements of control theory, relations between nonholonomic mechanics and the control theory, vibration and autobalancing of rotor systems, physical theory of impact, statics and dynamics of a thin rod. This textbook is aimed at students in mathematics and mechanics and at post-graduates and researchers in analytical mechanics.
This book suggests a new common approach to the study of resonance energy transport based on the recently developed concept of Limiting Phase Trajectories (LPTs), presenting applications of the approach to significant nonlinear problems from different fields of physics and mechanics.
It presents the methodological bases for the practical use of acoustic emission device, and describes the results of theoretical and experimental researches of evaluation of the crack growth resistance of materials, selection of the useful AE signals.
This book investigates the stability and vibrations of conductive, perfectly conductive and superconductive thin bodies in electromagnetic fields.
This book presents a hybrid approach to the mechanics of thin bodies for rods, plates and shells. The majority of the simulations were performed in the Wolfram Mathematica environment and the compact source code is provided as an integral part of the book.
This book focuses on the methods of dynamic analysis and synthesis of machines, comprising of cyclic action mechanisms, such as linkages, cams, steppers, etc.
In this book, regular structures are de ned as periodic structures consisting of repeated elements (translational symmetry) as well as structures with a geom- ric symmetry.
Therefore, the basic goal of the mono graph "Advanced Theory of Vibrations 1" is to help students studying vibration theory for gaining experience in application of this theory for solving particular problems.
Mechanics of non-holonomic systems gives a deep insight into the theory and applications of Analytical Mechanics. The theory suggested is illustrated by the examples of a spacecraft motion. The book is primarily addressed to specialists in analytic mechanics.
This reference tutorial contains modern experimental approaches to analysis of strain-stress distribution based on interference-optical methods of registration of strain or displacement fields. It includes the theory and applications of these techniques.
Basic models and concepts of machine dynamics and motion control are presented in the order of the principal steps of machine design. The machine is treated as a coupled dynamical system, including drive, mechanisms and controller, to reveal its behavior at different regimes through the interaction of its units under dynamic and processing loads.
The book addresses computational methods for solving the problem of vibration, response, loads and stability of a helicopter rotor blade modeled as a rotating beam with flap or out-of-plane bending.
