Bøker i Genre and Beyond: A Film Studies Series-serien

Chronicles representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer sexualities over one hundred years of American film. This book explores the ever-changing images of queer characters onscreen as well as the work of queer filmmakers and the cultural histories of queer audiences - from the works of discreetly homosexual filmmakers.

Through close readings of films by US filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, Errol Morris, and, Joel and Ethan Coen, this work studies provocative, disorienting strategies of genre mixing in contemporary cinema. It also explores foreign parallels to US hybrid cinema in films by such directors as Pedro Almodovar and Stephen Chow.
