This collection is to present the earliest textbooks that grew out of the original development of automatic control, and the many others that followed very soon, in various countries, and in various languages. We set out to collect information on one to four books from each country, including a brief description of the background, history and contents of the book, a picture of the front page, and copies of one to a few "typical" pages. With the latter, we intended to show pages that contain an equation or figure, easily recognizable to anyone familiar with control, embedded in the text written in one of the many languages and, in some cases, in various scripts. The present collection contains 62 entries from 21 countries.
Containing 29 papers, this volume contributes to the literature published on the safety of computer systems. The papers cover all aspects - specification, development, analysis, verification, validation of hardware and software, as well as the problems involved in the reliability, availability and security of systems.
Talks about the symposium Low Cost Automation, 1992, whose main aim was to bring together end-users and control system specialists to evaluate the possibilities for improvement of techniques, design procedures, components and instruments to encourage low cost automation. The technical sessions dealt with topics from process automation.
The selected papers in this volume cover intelligent control techniques, actuators, sensors, image processing, computer vision, software and communications. Papers also included relate to applications and include robotics, power and process control, manufacturing, aerospace and traffic control.
Containing 4 plenary papers and 38 technical papers, this volume contributes to the literature on the important subject of man-machine systems. It includes topics such as human performance skills, knowledge engineering and expert systems, training procedures, human performance and mental load models, and human-machine interfaces.
