Bøker i RIM the Royal Inscriptions of Mesopotamia-serien

This volume contains a short introduction for each ruler. Every inscription is accompanied by an introductory statement, a catalogue of exemplars, a brief commentary, a bibliography, a transliteration and translation, and notes.

The texts presented here were discovered by a German expedition to Ashur, capital of the Assyrians, more than half a century ago. They have remained in Istanbul, largely uncatalogued and unedited, until this publication, the first in a series to be prepared under the auspices of the Royal Inscriptions of Mesopotamia Project.

In this corpus we find the first extensive use of the Akkadian language, in it oldest known dialect, for royal inscriptions.

This volume of RIM focuses on the inscriptions of the Third Dynasty of Ur, a city made famous by archaeological excavations of its spectacular burial sites.
