I am a fine art photographer, based in warm and sunny Los Angeles. There's a lot of birds here. Here in L.A., we have mild winters, no snow or ice and sunny summers with low humidity. If I was a bird I'd want to live here too. As an artist I appreciate the colors, natural poses and posture and attitude of birds. It is art, art created by Nature. And now that art is presented here in this photobook, Fine Art Birds.

Based in America (in trendy L.A.) my Stu Pitt stories use humor, wisdom, and truth to shine a light on life's absurdities (and other Stu Pitt stuff). This book contains my best observations about life. Many of the stories and observations are short, cool, fun and funny. Many of these stories are wildly entertaining, often even brilliant, and occasionally serious.
The 1918 outbreak of the H1N1 strain of influenza, popularly known as the Spanish flu, killed more people worldwide than World War I, which ended the same year. It infected nearly one-third of the world's population and killed ten percent of those it struck. In its wake, schools and businesses closed, hospitals became overwhelmed, and the sick spilled out into makeshift care centers in public spaces. Policemen, public transportation workers, and everyday citizens in face masks were a common-and eerie-sight. Yet, discussion of this global pandemic often takes a backseat to World War I and other contemporary events. In this book you will learnThe true story behind the Spanish flu and why it is referred to as the great influenzaWhat worked and what didn'tCountries greatly affected along with those with slight casesThe beginning and end of the world's deadliest plagueSome of the Lessons for Our DayAnd Much, Much More!Buy Now & Relax...From the earliest disease theories to how this virus unleashed devastation upon all corners of the world, this book offers a complex and detailed look at the history and nature of the Spanish flu, shedding light on the mystery and unveiling the lesser-known parts of this world-changing event.
This book provides a succinct overview of the evolution of policies addressing energy and climate justice in South Africa. Drawing on a range of analytical perspectives, including socio-technical studies, just transitions, and critical political economy, it explains why South AfricaΓÇÖs energy transition from a coal-dependent, centralised power generation and distribution system has been so slow, and reveals the types of socio-political inequalities that persist across regimes and energy sources. Topics explored include critical approaches to the South African state and its state-owned energy provider, Eskom; the political ecologies of coal and water; the politics of non-renewable energy alternatives; as well as the trajectory and fate of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), the countryΓÇÖs major renewable energy policy. The book concludes with reflections on alternative, neglected energy and development paths, suggesting how the political economy of South AfricaΓÇÖs energy system could be further transformed for the better.
