A 8000 years old tale full of Mysteries & Magic, centred around a mystical Island called Kumari Kandam, believed to be lost with an ancient Tamil civilization, supposedly located south of present-day India in the Indian Ocean. According to the Kumari Kandam proponents, the island was submerged when the last ice age ended and the sea levels rose. To this day, opinion is still divided as to whether this story should be understood literally or taken merely as a morality tale. Most people are familiar with the story of Atlantis, the legendary sunken city described by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. Further east in the subcontinent of India is a similar tale, though it probably is less well-known compared to that of Atlantis.
Julia, a self-confessed freckle-faced plain Jane, wonders if she will ever find love. Then she meets Pradiman, a guy from India who has been in New Zealand for only two years. They date and love blossoms, but she has doubts, as interracial marriages are not common in New Zealand in the 1980s.
