Seasons of My Life is the story of an ordinary person who has lived an extraordinary life. Of lessons learnt and lessons taught, from living with honesty, integrity, kindness, and compassion, to not being afraid of challenge and change, and embracing all cultures, care, kindness, and tolerance to all people. Of having purpose and goals and being able to work towards these values that are so needed in the world we all live in. Like nature, our lives can mirror the changing of the seasons, and author Anne James invites you to share her journey of being brought up in a loving environment and as part of a 'village' of people. And just as we tend our physical gardens, we also tend the 'garden' of our family; planting the seeds of our values and encouraging them to flourish and grow within ourselves and our children. Seasons of My Life is a must-read for anyone reflecting on their own life, or who enjoys sharing stories of others from a generation that lived a simpler life, even though the hardships were real.'Be true to who you are, believe in and have faith in yourself.'- Anne James
The Placeholder is the story of a strong-willed young woman whose ideas were ahead of her time. She was born in Alabama in the 1800’s when women were treated like possessions. They were sometimes victims of abuse without recourse. They had no say, could not vote, own property, nor work outside their homes without the permission from a man. They were subjected to the rule of fathers, husbands, brothers, and male employers, if they were fortunate enough to gain employment. The main character, Evinaida Corbitt, fought to change these conditions. She joined a group called the Suffragettes. Their aim was to gain suffrage for women. In addition to being a part of the female equality struggle, she was also born a mulatto which brought on another type of discrimination. ABOUT THE AUTHORAnne James writes to encourage, uplift, and inspire a continuing belief in the living God.
In Poets, Players and Preachers, Anne James explores the literary responses to the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot in poetry, drama, and sermons. This book is the first full-length study of the literary repercussions of the conspiracy.
