Die Familie Selicke ist ein Drama von Arno Holz und Johannes Schlaf, das am 7. April 1890 an der Freien Bühne in Berlin uraufgeführt wurde. In konsequent naturalistischem Stil beschreibt das Stück ein Familiendesaster innerhalb eines kleinbürgerlich-proletarischen Milieus. Doppelte Autorenschaft: 1887 traf Arno Holz Johannes Schlaf. Beide waren junge Schriftsteller auf der Suche nach neuen Formen. In Niederschönhausen bei Berlin gründeten sie eine literarische Wohngemeinschaft unter ärmlichen Verhältnissen. Arno Holz (1863 - 1929) war ein deutscher Dichter und Dramatiker des Naturalismus und Impressionismus. Johannes Schlaf (1862 - 1941) war ein deutscher Dramatiker, Erzähler und Übersetzer und bedeutender Vertreter des deutschen Naturalismus. Als Übersetzer trug er entscheidend zur Verbreitung der Werke von Walt Whitman, Émile Verhaeren und Émile Zola im deutschsprachigen Raum bei. Er gilt damit als Begründer des Whitman-Kults in Deutschland. Seine literarischen Verdienste liegen vor allem in szenisch-dialogischen Neuerungen des "Konsequenten Naturalismus" und in der Ausbildung des literarischen Impressionismus. Ebenfalls wirkte er mit an der Entstehung des "Intimen Theaters".
