The complete collection of Sherlock Holmes's adventures in crime, including all four novels featuring Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic hero. The Collection includes, ""A Study in Scarlet, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Sign of the Four & The Valley of Fear"".A Study in Scarlet is an 1887 detective novel written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The story marks the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who would become the most famous detective duo in popular fiction. When a postwar search for London lodgings introduces ailing doctor John H. Watson to quirky chemist Sherlock Holmes, their collaboration in the art of observation and deduction begins. Congenial flatmates and even better colleagues, the pair is quickly drawn into a case of murder and revenge that has Scotland Yard at their wits' end.Although Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories featuring Holmes, A Study in Scarlet is one of only four full-length novels in the original canon. The novel was followed by The Sign of the Four, published in 1890. A Study in Scarlet was the first work of detective fiction to incorporate the magnifying glass as an investigative tool. The Sign of Four is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's second book starring legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. The story is complex, involving a secret between four ex-cons from India and a hidden treasure. More complex than the first Holmes novel, The Sign of Four also introduces the detective's drug habit and leaves breadcrumbs for the reader that lead toward the final resolution. The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. It is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigate the case. This was the first appearance of Holmes since his apparent death in ""The Final Problem"", and the success of The Hound of the Baskervilles led to the character's eventual revival.Gripping and iconic, the hound of the Baskervilles is one of the finest stories ever written. It has been adapted for film and television time and again. More than a century after its first publication, the novel continues to remain a spine-chilling classic. In 2003, the book was listed as number 128 of 200 on the BBC's The Big Read poll of the UK's ""best-loved novel"". In 1999, it was listed as the top Holmes novel, with a perfect rating from Sherlockian scholars of 100.The Valley of Fear is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.Summoned to a mysterious manor house by one of the henchmen of his arch nemesis, Professor Moriarty, Holmes and Watson find themselves confronted by the scene of a brutal murder. But the brilliant Holmes soon reveals that there is much more to this case than first meets the eye...This fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel will delight fans of Conan Doyle's legendary detective and his faithful sidekick Watson.

"Beyond the City" is a novel that tells the story of a young woman named Edie Martyn, who is unhappy with her life in a quiet, rural town. She longs for excitement and adventure and feels trapped by the limitations of her surroundings. When a charismatic and mysterious stranger, Harry Pinner, arrives in town, he offers Edie a chance to escape her mundane life. He persuades her to leave everything behind, including her husband, and embark on a journey to London, where he promises a more exhilarating and prosperous life. However, as Edie and Pinner begin their new life in the bustling city, Edie gradually becomes aware of Pinner's true nature and the risks she has taken. The story unfolds as Edie grapples with her predicament, the choices she has made, and her desire for a better future."Beyond the City" is not a detective story like many of Conan Doyle's other works, but rather a novel that explores themes of love, temptation, and the consequences of impulsive decisions. It offers a glimpse into the lives and aspirations of its characters, highlighting the contrast between rural and urban settings and the complexities of human relationships. While "Beyond the City" may not be as famous as Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, it showcases his storytelling abilities and his versatility as a writer. The novel provides readers with a different perspective on the human condition and the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment.

His Last Bow is a collection of seven Sherlock Holmes stories (eight in American editions) by Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as the title of one of the stories in that collection. Originally published in 1917, it contains the various Holmes stories published between 1908 and 1913, as well as the one-off title story from 1917.The collection was originally called Reminiscences of Sherlock Holmes and did not contain the actual story His Last Bow, which appeared later, after the full-length The Valley of Fear was published. However later editions added it and changed the title. Some recent complete editions have restored the earlier title.

The story centres more on his daughter Enid and his old friend Edward Malone. Another friend from the 1912 novel The Lost World, Lord John Roxton, is also involved in the novel's second half. Professor Summerlee, who has died of old age around this time, is referred to by the mediums.Heavily influenced by Doyle's growing belief in Spiritualism after the death of his son, brother, and two nephews in World War I, the book focuses on Edward Malone's at first professional, and later personal interest in Spiritualism.

First published in 1887, A Study in Scarlet is the first crime that Sherlock Holmes solves with his companion Doctor Watson. A murder that leaves the Police clueless is brilliantly solved by the master detectives - Holmes and Watson. The book's title is derived from a speech that Holmes gives to his companion Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his ""study in scarlet"": ""There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it.""

Only Holmes and Watson can get to the bottom of this baffling murder mystery. John Douglas is found in his study blasted faceless with a sawn-off shotgun. There is no obvious motive or suspect. Douglas and his wife, Ivy, a rich and locally popular couple, have lived for years in the ancient, moated Birlstone Manor House. Despite Douglas' nightly ritual of raising the drawbridge, a perpetrator had concealed himself, shot Douglas, and made a clean getaway. Does the mystery have something to do with the "interesting" relationship between Cecil Baker, Douglas' only friend from his obscure past, and the surprisingly merry widow? There are plenty of clues, including a brand mark on the deceased arm and the fact that his wedding ring is missing, but not the ring that he always wore above it.In one of finest books, an exciting adventure of mystery and espionage that will thrill and delight readers both young and old.
