La conservazione degli hotspot di biodiversità è quindi una priorità cruciale e richiede sforzi e risorse significative da parte di organizzazioni nazionali e internazionali, oltre che delle comunità locali. Negli ultimi anni sono state attuate diverse misure di conservazione, tra cui la creazione di aree protette, il ripristino di habitat degradati e la promozione di pratiche di utilizzo sostenibile del territorio. Diese Hotspots sind von entscheidender Bedeutung für das Überleben zahlreicher Pflanzen- und Tierarten sowie für die Bereitstellung von Ökosystemleistungen, die den Lebensunterhalt der Menschen sichern, und werden anhand von zwei Hauptkriterien identifiziert, darunter ein hoher Artenreichtum und das Vorhandensein einzigartiger und endemischer Arten. Trotz ihrer ökologischen Bedeutung sind die Hotspots der biologischen Vielfalt in zunehmendem Maße durch menschliche Aktivitäten wie die Zerstörung von Lebensräumen, den Klimawandel, die Umweltverschmutzung und den Raubbau an natürlichen Ressourcen bedroht. In den letzten Jahren wurde eine Vielzahl von Erhaltungsmaßnahmen durchgeführt, darunter die Einrichtung von Schutzgebieten, die Wiederherstellung geschädigter Lebensräume und die Förderung nachhaltiger Landnutzungspraktiken. In Teil I haben wir über sieben Hotspots der biologischen Vielfalt gesprochen.
