Originally published in 1921, this book contains a number of observations on 'stupors' relating to dementia praecox and manic-depression. Hoch's conclusions are furnished by multiple examples from case studies taken from his time as director of the Psychiatric Institute of the New York State Hospitals from 1910 to 1917.
