The Scientists is the fifth book in the Clint Smith thriller series. Someone has been kidnapping scientists from various countries. All are tops in their field and experts in the modernization of drones. The world's top drone scientist were abducted to create a smaller, faster, long distance, and more lethal drone.As the world's security and intelligence services make little progress in solving the disappearances, Clint is sent to Madrid, Spain and put on alert. While the search is on, three separate drone attacks occur, resulting in a number of deaths. Theresa Deer, Clint's boss, not hindered by bureaucracies, turf battles, or international politics, is determined to identify who is behind the kidnappings and drone attacks. Clint travels to Austria, Italy and finally Greece. In all three countries, he is confronted by those who try to kill him. Once the lethal drones are perfected, the kidnapped scientists' usefulness comes to an end. While Clint's mission does not include rescue, he's given the green light to go after his target. His success may prevent some of them from dying. Time is tight and the enemy is no pushover, so the game is on.
