Imagine if you were a typical working class person living next door to a grifter who is forever scheming to relieve you of everything you own or believe in. This is a tale of neighbors in conflict that may also be read as a satirical allegory about such a situation.Boomer Blewitt, a vaguely left leaning guy, has gone with the flow through the decades but has maintained a progressive attitude. On the other hand, his next door neighbor, Norm Shatterd, is a self-absorbed opportunistic narcissist, constantly plotting to take advantage of his fellow citizens for his own gain. When Boomer (as a descendant of Edward Blewitt he is unbeknownst to himself a distant cousin of the 46th president) switches his approach from traditional lawn care to sustainable landscaping, that sets off his selfish neighbor Norm, who then cultivates the Lawn Order Movement. As Norm provokes his followers into violence, a militant cult, OGLE or Only Green Lawns Exceptable (sic) emerges along with it's backing political arm, the Not See Party. Norm's efforts to create chaos draws the other inhabitants of the block into the resulting conflict. The Unibrowed Boys, who are right wing militia members, support Norm's divisive activities while the Garcia family, a doctor couple and their children, support truth and factual reality. On The Fence is the story of how Boomer and his Aunt Fanny (who goes by the name Auntie Fa in support of Lawn Diversity) use their natural wits to combat the creeping authoritarianism taking over their neighborhood.

The book Libby Wants to Dump the Man Called Grump is a companion piece to a song by the Culpably Negligent which on the surface is about an abusive relationship between Libby and the man called Grump. The book includes the song lyrics and illustrations which are also featured in a video of the song that can be found on the internet with a simple search. Readers will recognize that the song's lyrics and illustrations reveal the true subject is bigger than a personal relationship and more about the state of the USA and the abusive person in charge.
