I have written a good number of books over the last 40 years on both Karate and the Filipino art of Modern Arnis. They have been technical how-to books. I have never written one on strategy. Why is that? Because the best one on strategy was written hundreds of years ago by Japan's greatest swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi. This is also not going to be yet another translation of Musashi's flagship book. I don't speak Japanese and there really is no way I could top Bennett's and Tokitsu's translations. I've read The Book of Five Rings a number of times. I have read it each time with the purpose of answering this question. "How does this book apply to me and my fighting arts in present time?" Bear in mind that being born in the 20th century and living in the 21st century brings about a very different set of cultural circumstances. How can something written back in 1645, The Book of Five Rings, figure into my own martial expression? Simple. I have always maintained this pervading concept: All fighting is the same; just the rules of engagement and tools differ. How does Musashi's classic text fit into modern day? Read on.Dan Anderson
TheSuper Dan Method of Free-fighting - Visual Reader Edition 2022What is a Visual-Reader? It is the combination of centuries old print media with Y2K computer technology to give you the best of both worlds. A Visual-Reader provides you with the combination of print, photographic information, and video footage accessible from your book via QR codes. You not only read and absorb the written information but you can see it in real time. This new medium is the best of both worlds and is the next step in your journey towards martial arts excellence. All martial artists have the desire to excel, whether it is for personal satisfaction or for competition. This book is to back up your desire for excellence. This book takes on the "how" to excel and brings it to every martial artist from beginning to expert master. In over half a century, I have made an in-depth study of the subject of free-fighting and have brought it down to a simplicity that anyone and everyone can understand. This book is about taking your ability to the next level, no matter your current skill level or age. The Super Dan Method of Free-Fighting is principle, not attribute based. This means that it does not matter if you are large or small, fast or slow, young or old - none of that. The Super Dan Method of Free-Fighting is geared for you no matter your personal attributes. The beauty of this book is that everything in this book has been "road tested." It has been tested and worked out in actual practice to ensure its efficiency in raising your skills. This new edition raises the bar on martial arts instructional books. It combines 20th century print media with 21st century computer technology and combines video instruction with the printed page. By scanning the QR codes that accompany the written material, you get the full instructional experience! This IS all about taking you to the next level! My motto has always been, "If I can do it, anybody can." Now you can.Prof. Dan Anderson REVIEWAndrew SeigelHaving been fortunate to beta-test this, I can confidently state that this is a game-changer. Mr. Anderson's books are already the definitive texts on their respective subjects. To now be able to read AND see what is being shared is the epitome of knowledge and skill sharing. The concepts detailed in the text are immediately available in real-time demonstrations. Sometimes it can be difficult to understand what is shared in text format - but not anymore, not with the Visual Reader format. This brings learning to a whole new level. The only thing better than this would be to have the man himself instructing you in person (an opportunity that no one should ever pass up!)
After 50+ years involvement in the martial arts, I have had many, many adventures. I have competed in every decade since the 1960s. I have been a regional, national and world karate champion during this time. I am considered to be one of the founders of American Karate. I have travelled across the world to teach and learn and hone my crafts, both karate and Filipino martial arts. I have been fortunate enough to rub elbows with some of the greatest martial artists in the 20th century. I have produced over 100 books and DVDs on karate and arnis. In the last half century, you might say I've been busy. And I've got a story for each adventure I've had. I've been asked many questions over the years about a vast number of subjects concerning the martial arts. I decided to compile them in a single book for your easy reference. I consider this book to be a true follow up to Super Dan - A Martial Arts Memoir. Sit down when you have some free time and a good cup of coffee and enjoy the read. Super Dan Anderson REVIEWS: "This book is a true gem! A conversation with one of the few who not only walks the true path; he built big parts of It! This book offers insights that only someone like its author could gain. It'll be a proud addition to my library!" -Phillip Starr - Author of Martial Mechanics, Authentic Iron Palm, and Developing Jin"I've known Dan Anderson since 1966, through his neophyte period, when he was a hungry new black belt, then as a champion among champions, and finally as a highly knowledgeable instructor with an extraordinary gift to teach. All of Professor Anderson's books contain the wealth of his experience earned with shed blood and broken bones. Conversations With Super Dan is another in a long line of information-rich texts by this incredible warrior scholar."Loren Christensen - Author of Solo Training, Deadly Force Encounters, Fighters Fact Book and many more
When reading this book, you will begin to see into what makes me tick. I love research. I love seeing how other people think. I especially love tying up loose ends in martial arts instruction. I have written a good number of books (this is number 39) and they all have one thing in common - tying up loose ends. Every book and video I have produced has two things in common: 1. They have been my efforts to clarify and tie up loose ends in martial arts instruction and, 2. I have gotten many thanks from readers for doing so. Loose ends were tied up for them too. So, where do I get my inspiration from when not learning first-hand from legitimate masters? Yep, you guessed it. From written materials by others. Many martial artists such as Donn F. Draeger, Robert W. Smith, Loren W. Christensen as well as others are a well of information and inspiration. Authors such as these keep my juices flowing. As you go through this book you will see where I get my inspiration from. Here's to giving you inspiration as well!
This summer I set out to compile a number of my writings, Facebook posts, interview transcripts and the like, to put them into one easy to find location. I initially thought this would turn out to be a pamphlet or booklet. Little did I know that I had more than enough material to compile into a full book. Modern Arnis has been a passion of mine for over the last 40+ years. This art is what aided me in my journey as a martial artist. It has literally transformed me. In this book I write about this transformation as well as opinions on the many facets of Modern Arnis. This book seeks to fill a number of gaps in written materials on the art of my teacher, Remy Presas. Read on.Prof. Dan Anderson
Chauncey McFadden, a Los Angeles PI, receives a frantic phone call from the president of a Miami-based cruise line. Two employees have been killed in port and Chauncey is hired to solve the crime and prevent further atrocities. MacFadden has little homicide experience, and things quickly fall apart as the body count climbs onboard ship and in Caribbean island ports of call. Smuggled drugs have disappeared from the vessel, which unleashes a terrifying, vengeful vendetta.

A huge word-of-mouth success in the States.Since primitive times women have gazed over campfires, and wondered how best to please their tool-wielding men. Grunting males have offered little help or guidance for these eager-to-learn companions, instead occupying themselves with chest thumping, sports on cable and other posturing. It took aeons of Darwinian development for women to realise that the answers to their many questions were as close as the nearest telephone.
