One of my greatest joys in life has been for five decades mentoring fledging runners and watching them mature and soar like an eagle to heights they never dreamed possible. Nothing makes the soul richer than investing in others and striving to positively influence them spiritually, relationally, and productively. Nothing brings an athlete more satisfaction than knowing the intense training in which they have been engaged has reaped dividends that exceeded expectations. There is no greater reward a coach receives than knowing the spiritual and life lessons an athlete has learned from their successes and failures has been woven into the fabric of their character in their everyday living. There is no greater inner contentment experienced than when a mentor perceives a life has been impacted and influenced for the better. Such a realization is both a humbling and an honored privilege.
