The Great War in Heaven began centuries ago between angels loyal to God and those who sided with Lucifer over the fate of humanity. The Archangel Michael led God's army and won the War. Lucifer and the angels who sided with him were cast down from the Heavens to Earth and could never return. The cast-out angels would be forever known as the Fallen. However, the War that started in Heaven is far from over. The Fallen will do whatever it takes to control the destiny of humanity. The Archangel Michael dispatched angels all over the Earth to make sure humanity was kept safe. These angels were warned to observe and report, not become personally involved with the affairs of humans, especially women.Jakiele, who had been on Earth for centuries, had always obeyed Michael without question, but his existence had become unbearably lonely. Unfortunately, Jakiele did not know that the decision to start having humans become part of his life would lead to the involvement in a demon-led conspiracy to cover up a grisly murder. Jakiele was suddenly thrust into a life or death race against time to save the one woman he had come to care about deeply. Jakiele knew he was risking God's wrath by falling in love with a beautiful human woman that he knew he could never have. Jakiele would have to decide whether he should intervene or risk becoming one of the Fallen himself.
In 1835, while Charles Darwin aboard the HMS Beagle was exploring the Galapagos Islands, the northern Illinois municipalities of Genoa and Kingston were being settled. Pioneers arrived via the historic Chicago-Galena stagecoach trail. Thomas Matteson, a Revolutionary War soldier from Ohio, and his family traveled in three covered wagons and became Genoa's first settlers. Genoa was incorporated as a village in 1876 and as a city in 1911. Kingston became a village in 1886. In addition to sharing a boundary, the municipalities share the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department, Genoa-Kingston Middle School, and Genoa-Kingston High School. During the Civil War, 109 men from Genoa and 105 men from Kingston, roughly a tenth of the population of each municipality at that time, enlisted in the Union Army. Men and women from Genoa and Kingston have continued to serve in the U.S. military from World Wars I and II to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
