My motivation for writing the "Dad Rants" was to convey to my kids in writing their dad's philosophy for living, and for decision making. They would then have a record of their dad's thoughts for posterity. My wife and I have held as a primary foundational principle that it is imperative that children be imbued with the moral code. This is the number one objective in the raising of children. Children arrive to this world as selfish savages. The objective is to move them towards becoming selfless saints. Our secondary foundational principle is that it is imperative that they learn to utilize evidence based reasoning in their decision making process. The biggest mistakes in life are made when decisions are made out of emotion, and not based on evidence. So in the rants the reader will note the stress placed on evidence based reasoning. All flat assertions must be backed by the evidence to support those assertions. No exceptions! An additional foundational principle is that communication must be accomplished in a manner that the receiver will hear the message. For this reason, the "Dad Rants" are written in the informal, laid back language of my youth. I have purposefully avoided the formal language of the academy because I am not writing for that audience. "The Dad Rants" are designed to express, not to impress. It is my sincere desire that other parents seeking to communicate to their children the importance of the moral code, and how to apply the practical application of reason to life's many challenges will find the rants helpful.Viva Cristo Rey!
