Author Jillian Walker wants to expand her horizons by writing in a different genre. She written a few historical fiction novels, but wants to write something more mysterious. Eventually, she settles on crime mysteries, a genre in which she's never written, but one that tugs heavily on her imagination. The only draw back is her hometown, Layton, Colorado, is so small, inspiration doesn't come along very often. An idea of how to gain real insight into the dark world of crime pops into her head and she meets with Layton's mayor with hope of getting his permission to ride along with Layton's two detectives, Jackson Hill and Mark McPherson. At first, Detective Hill, also known as Jack and is Ms. Walker's finance', isn't keen on the idea, but comes around as Jillian (Jill) inadvertently helps him and his partner solve several mysterious murders that have struck fear into the heart of their small town. Together, they form a crime solving team and soon Jill releases her first book of a new collection titled: The New Adventures of Jack and Jill: The Outsider. She has yet to see how her book will be received by the residents of Layton; that being a mystery all its own.
Through technology that brings a person's genetic memory vividly to life, Dr. Rachel Wall discovers the truth about the purpose of the Great Flood, after which, she becomes a member of the a secret organization that is determined to resurrect the Biblical Nephilim through genetic engineering and cloning. Early on, she learns this very organization is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve its vision - regardless of the cost or collateral damage. All with the future of humankind and eternity hanging in the balance.
