If the head is religion, the gut is magic. Taking up this provocation, this Element delves into the digestive system within transnational Afro-Diasporic religions such as Haitian Vodou, Brazilian Candomblé, and Cuban Lucumí (also called Santería). It draws from the ethnographic and archival record to probe the abdomen as a vital zone of sensory perception, amplified in countless divination verses, myths, rituals, and recipes for ethnomedical remedies. Provincializing the brain as only one locus of reason, it seeks to expand the notion of 'mind' and expose the anti-Blackness that still prevents Black Atlantic knowledges from being accepted as such. The Element examines gut feelings, knowledge, and beings in the belly; African precedents for the Afro-Diasporic gut-brain axis; post-sacrificial offerings in racist fantasy and everyday reality; and the strong stomachs and intestinal fortitude of religious ancestors. It concludes with a reflection on kinship and the spilling of guts in kitchenspaces.

The central figure and focus of this book is God. He has given me overwhelming victory in a garment of praise (see Isaiah 61:3). It's my desire to share some of the many special blessings that I have experienced in my journey with God. Through this journey, I discovered, as you too will discover, that though we are frail and weak, He gives us the strength and understanding to dwell in Him. In Philippians 4:13, Paul says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." We are victorious because He knows each one of us by name and is aware of our life's struggles. This book is my story, the story of a woman who believed the timeless truth that God could, and still can, do anything! Without a doubt, this belief carried me through many difficult circumstances of rejection, illnesses, pain, and sorrow. Through my dependency and trust on God's Holy Word, He made me an overcomer. Today more than ever, I believe Luke 1:37, "For with God nothing shall be impossible." I still believe in God's purpose for my life. All my accomplishments have been due to His provision, love, mercy, grace, patience, and forgiveness. God loves you! He will never forsake you. Trust Him, and you shall have peace and joy!

In the book, Dear younger me, Elizabeth describes the years of child abuse by that of friends, family and people in authority. It's not a book of despair but one of triumph and victory that she hopes can help others dealing with similar traumas. In this book she talks about what her younger self needed to hear at the time she was experiencing so much chaos. It's a documentary she wrote that compelled her to heal and extending her life as depicted in this book to hopefully encourage others to do the same. Elizabeth Perez was born in San Diego, CA. She is a wife and a mother of 2 toddlers. She began writing just before the covid 19 virus struck the world and was inspired to share her life with you to show the power of God and help those who want to experience freedom in a world where freedoms are being gradually taken away. She shares childhood tragedies and eventually triumph to compel readers to find triumphs in their own growth, where ever that may be in their current life. She pours out her heart time and time again as she shares childhood traumas and writes them out in a way that compels the reader to share or document what their younger self should have heard their older self say to excite renovation of life, soul and spirit within them. It is a passion of hers to see and hear the broken hearts mended and pain or grief stricken healed. She hopes to help someone, even if it's just the one.
