Wulfila (311 - 383) war Bischof der arianischen Westgoten, war Schöpfer der gotischen Bibelübersetzung, zu deren Zweck er die gotische Schrift entwickelte und die als das Hauptdenkmal der gotischen Sprache gilt. Ernst Bernhardt veröffentlichte 1875 die hier vorliegende Ausgabe "mit dem entsprechenden griechischen Test und mit kritischem und erklärendem Commentar".
