Chained in Darkness Anthology extends the notion of an angelic rebellion and their misused stolen wisdom to include the unseen realms where highly evolved beings oversee our wellbeing. Entrance to those dimensions is strictly controlled. Dr. Eugene Barnes explores fields such as demonology, quantum physics, translocation, and altered states of consciousness through his rich cast of characters, which expands the plot to include a professor, his student, a rabbi, and his sister. I particularly enjoyed the intricate blend of spiritual beliefs from Christianity through Rastafarianism, Judaism, and the Kabbalah to Native American teachings. A touch of romance completes the mix. The plot is well-developed, and it seems fitting that such a diverse interfaith team should set out to save the planet. This book pushes the bounds of conventional religion and provides an alternative scenario for a hypothetical Armageddon. It is well-written, entertaining, thought-provoking, and highly recommended. An excellent read.Natalie Soine for Readers' Favorite

The struggle between good and evil began at the dawn of time and with the granting of free will. Dr. Eugene Barnes adds a new and exciting dimension to this classic theme in Chained in Darkness Anthology. It is a tale of fallen angels and their leader, who have been captured and imprisoned by the forces of Light. They seek to escape being chained in perpetual darkness by using earthly surrogates - such as the evil Charlotte Devereaux - to destroy the world. Against this background, Detective Wanda Price investigates a series of apparent suicides in her hometown in Illinois, USA. She suspects a spiritual link and seeks the advice of Reverend Kristofer Masters, the pastor at a local church. The trail leads them to confer with his mentor in New York, where similar unexplained deaths have occurred. There, a team of academics and theologians is assembled, but they must first cope with mystical experiences and be exposed to personal danger by dark forces. Relationships are forged through trust, and international associations are established. They pool their esoteric knowledge to unravel clues from sacred texts and ancient wisdom to prevent the impending apocalypse, which reaches its climax in the town of Bethel.

Chief Detective Wanda Price begins an investigation into a recently discovered body. The newly deceased individual is added to a long list of other unexplained deaths occurring worldwide. Her detective skills are razor-sharp as she connects a single clue to the deceased's demise. Her investigation leads her to a storefront minister named Kristofer Masters and a Rabbi. Interaction between the three of them finds them in the streets of New York, where unknown assassins attack Detective Price. Professor Nyabinghi, demon-fighter extraordinaire, shares his thoughts on the Nephilims, and he and Rev. Masters begin to recognize that their foe is not of this world. The team must hurry to avoid a deadline that could transform the earth into an abode for demons. Will Detective Price and Rev. Masters allow their emotional attachment to interfere with their quest? Can the newly developed team mount an appreciable line of defense? Which of the books, eighty-odd characters, are their invisible adversaries? "A slow-burn mystery that engages many religious perspectives about evil and murder. Although I was not surprised that the author chose to build the story up to the introduction of the main protagonist and the search for the killer, I would have liked it to happen a little sooner. I am one of those readers who likes to get pulled right in, so perhaps it is impatience on my part. Readers who like a descriptive, short read with an expedited plot may like Chained in Darkness Alpha. It does offer some interesting characters." Layla Abdullah-Poulos

When Breaks the Maelstrom is a buffet of multinational short stories that tend to mask genre lines. The stories defy convention in that they are fantastical and are interludes into the lives of men, women, children, and otherworldly beings. Some events cannot be explained, except we accept the supernatural. When we can break through the natural world's barrier, it is then that we can see other possibilities. We can suggest that myths, phenomena, and legends may be familiar with reality. It's an insight into situations that we all may have faced at one time or another. Since all skeletons in closets are not yet devoid of flesh, it is only proper that we remake the frame to envision its beginnings. Several stories are character continuations, such as Bounty Hunter, Japanese Style, Moon Trouble, and the Unnameable. These tales loom prominently in their telling that they are the adventurers, adventures so many of us desire to be or become. Please enjoy as you venture into original and undiscovered realms of fantasy and science fiction. DISCLAIMER; These stories you are about to read are purely fiction. It has been noised abroad that some readers have experienced reoccurring nightmares after their indulgence. One reads at their own risk, and should such unsubstantiated instances occur, the author shall be held harmless.
