I'm a youthful 40-something (I love self delusion). I've enjoyed writing since I was a child. When I was in junior school I knew I could write better stories than Jane and Peter. Of course life decides it has other plans so my writing became something just for me.After several relationships and a marriage I saw a leaflet in Bolton library about a writing group. I started going to that one and realised that everything people say about joining writing groups was true and when this one stopped I started going to another. Through feedback I refined my style and even managed to get a couple published in anthologies. I've been told I have a particular style but I don't know if that's good or bad.Did I also mention that I am the Master of the Universe.
Dementia doesn't just affect the person with the diagnosis, but their family and friends too. This book provides practitioners with strategies to support families living with dementia pre- to post-diagnosis, using the story of a family and based on research throughout to help practitioners understand the lived experiences of everyone involved.
This text highlights individuals¿ own lived and felt experience, in order to share expertise about mental health problems. Looking at five common mental health states ¿ anxiety, depression, mood extremes, states of altered reality and impaired cognition ¿ the book also addresses the experience of care offered by health and social services and the impact of other people¿s responses. Drawing on personal narratives from a range of sources, this text foregrounds the voices of experts by experience, relates those voices to the academic literature and emphasises the importance of person-centred care and participation by services users in their own care.
This workbook builds upon the person-centred approach to dementia care, and gives students, practitioners and carers a new way of looking at dementia and the people who live with it.
