The Bible In Spain (Volume II): Or, The Journeys, Adventures, And Imprisonments Of An Englishman In An Attempt To Circulate The Scriptures In The Peninsula. A New Edition, With Notes And A Glossary, By Ulick Ralph Burke, Revised And Corrected By Herbert W. Greene (Complete Edition In Two Volumes - Volume II)This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards:1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions.2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work.We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

The Zincali - An Account of the Gypsies of Spain is a book written by George Borrow, the first edition was published 1841. A comprehensive treatise on the different gypsy societies of the world, based on the author's twenty years experience with gypsies in a variety of countries. This fascinating and informative text offers the reader a unique and interesting insight into a vast range of gypsy customs and traditions. In his work George Borrow writes about the living and culture of the Romani people predominantly in Spain. At the end of the book a useful dictionary of the Romani language can be found. The Zincali contains a lot of anecdotes of Borrow's encounters with the people, which shows that he spoke the Romani language fluently and was even considered as one of them. In contrast to most modern works about the Romani people also the dark side of the Romani culture is discussed, like fraud and robbery, which were apparently common with the Romani people in the author's lifetime. The chapters of this book include: 'The Gypsies - An Introduction'; 'The Zigani, or Russian Gypsies'; 'The Hungarian Gypsies, or Czigany'; 'Wallachia and Moldavia'; 'The English Gypsies'; 'Some Further Particulars respecting the English Gypsies', etc. Many antiquarian texts such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive, and it is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, high-quality, modern edition. It comes complete with a specially commissioned biography of the author.
The book is a description of the life of the Spanish Gypsies - an interesting late 18th century English look at the gypsies - with an original collection of their songs and poetry. A large section is devoted to the language of the Gitanos, "Robber" language, and specimens of Gypsy dialects, and the English dialect of the Rommany. The final part is entitled " Miscellenies in the Gitano Language." Borrow was the author of a number of classic works on the Gypsies, both in Europe and England.
