Perhaps most heinous among such experiments were those perpetrated on children - especially twins - with whom Mengele had a bizarre fascination.Here is where we find Ari and Noam Fischer, identical twin boys who are languishing in the camp until they are suddenly taken to Mengele where they will be held with several other sets of twins in a special building. Here they are well-fed and cared for. Little do the children suspect that they are all merely being "fattened up" in preparation for Mengele's maniacal and macabre medical experiments that will result in ignominious death for some and excruciating pain and torture for all.For Ari, his miraculous survival will perhaps prove to be, through a bizarre set of circumstances and events, not such a blessing or miracle after all when Mengele's demonic "science" will have consequences for his progeny that no one could ever possibly have fortold.

The quaint and quiet New England community of Pine Haven had never experienced anything quite like what visited it one early summer afternoon when young twin brothers Mickey and Teddy MacDonald inexplicably went missing. The very next night, twins Cody and Corey Cassidy disappear from their beds. What ever is going on in Pine Haven? Something sinister and malicious seems to have taken up residence in the small town and it is left to the police to root it out. Ironically, the investigation will be headed up by Detective Mack MacDonald, Teddy and Mickey's dad.

Author H. Alan Poquette wrote this story for his granddaughter, Maya, and grandson, Sebi. It was his joy to read it to them one night at bedtime after he had finished the manuscript. Any resemblance to the real characters, Maya and Sebi, is intended and deliberate! It is his hope that his readers enjoy reading this little tale of fantastical people, places, and events to their own children, grandchildren, or nieces and nephews, as a bedtime story selection, as much as he enjoyed writing it for the two most precious children in his and his wife Jo's lives.
