The aquatic systems are extremely important to mankind as they have various uses, including drinking water supply, irrigation, navigation, recreation, etc. These are also source of organic productivity. Water is one of the essential items needed by man, plant, animal and other living beings for their survival. Water is most precious resources on the earth covering almost 70% of the earth's surface. There are several books and research dealing with water and water related concepts, and maximum number of books and research are focused on marine water or river water. We all know that in hilly region, one of the most important sources of fresh water is ¿lakes¿. And these lakes are the main source of water in most of the river in Himalaya Region. As per their geography, location, climatic condition and approach of reach, these lakes are highly tough. Due to this fact, they are so far from any kind of pollution, and serves the mankind by fulfilling their basic need of life ¿ drinking water.
In this course book a broad concept of environment and nature is given, which is used by the UG and PG students. This book contains 15 chapter and 52 tables of environmental aspects, which is valuable for UG and PG students of environment, life science and natural sciences. According to the decision of Honorable Supreme Court, the University Grant Commission has decided, that the student of bachelor degree of any course or stream have to qualify a paper of environment for the knowledge of basic concept of environment and its conservation. Therefore in India the paper of environment is running in every university or institution with name of Environment Sciences or Environmental Study.It is the hope that this book will help to students and people from every walk of life to understand the basic concept of environment and nature, and to ensure the sustainability of life support system on this planet earth.
