Vehicular Platoon System Design: Fundamentals and Robustness provides a comprehensive introduction to connected and automated vehicular platoon system design. Platoons decrease the distances between cars or trucks using electronic, and possibly mechanical, coupling. This capability allows many cars or trucks to accelerate or brake simultaneously. It also allows for a closer headway between vehicles by eliminating reacting distance needed for human reaction. The book considers the key issues of robustness and cybersecurity, with optimization-based model predictive control schemes applied to control vehicle platoon.In the controller design part, several practical problems, such as constraint handling, optimal control performance, robustness against disturbance, and resilience against cyberattacks are reviewed. In addition, the book provides detailed theoretical analysis of the stability of the platoon under different control schemes.
This book presents techniques such as the robust control and nonlinearity approximation using linear-parameter-varying (LPV) techniques. Meanwhile, the control of independently driven electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles is introduced. It covers a comprehensive literature review, robust state estimation with uncertain measurements, sideslip angle estimation with finite-frequency optimization, fault detection of vehicle steering systems, output-feedback control of in-wheel motor-driven electric vehicles, robust path following control with network-induced issues, and lateral motion control with the consideration of actuator saturation. This book mainly addresses China's Belt and Road Initiative in terms of the connectivity industrial and spatial development, as well as current world's economic and trade pattern under such synergy development, and focuses on the function and mechanism of industry and geography coordination. Although current research on the value circulation between China and developed economies is relatively adequate, the book focuses on the value circulation between the countries and regions, especially the developing economies. China and other developing countries tie strongly with the production value circulation. The coordination industrial and spatial development in the global value cycle is also the cornerstone of long-term stabilization and sustainable development in China. Therefore, this book provides the theoretical and empirical research on Belt and Road from the perspectives on industrial and spatial synergy. This book proposes several questions: Any inherent inlay between industrial and geographic allocation, i.e., is there any possibility for close integration? This book analyzes the necessity of coordinated development of industry and space perspective of production division. Secondly, from the perspective of historical evolution and current situation, it analyzes the relationship among industry, economic growth and fluctuation and compares realizing paths of synergy of industrial and spatial development. It contains the industry and spatial diffusion mechanism and the effect of synergy development. Moreover, the corresponding policy implication is provided for sustainable development through the Belt and Road Initiative.
