A bereaved young professional woman living in Colorado inherits the substantial estate of her beloved aunt, including the large Virginia farm with a picturesque mansion where she had spent happy summers in her youth. She returns to Virginia to settle the estate and to decide whether to stay there permanently and immediately encounters a number of mysterious threatening and tragic incidents on the farm, plus a lawsuit aimed at breaking the aunt's will.
