We don't have to learn every lesson in life by personal experience. Sometimes, one mistake is all you get. Learning from the mistakes of others, real persons or fictional ones, can save us so much heartache and pain. These stories with shocking endings, are meant to give young hearts a view of other young hearts and their situations, predicaments, and challenges. By putting themselves in the place of the characters in the stories, they can decide what choices they would have made, so that the outcomes would have been good, better, or best.
Dear Reader,Plays of Praise is a compilation of plays to be preformed in churches or religious settings. These plays are intended to portray serious issues confronting the church in today's society. The care of our loved ones in senior care living facilities, the premarital sex decision, the forgive vs. retaliation dilemma, and the consequences of sexual lust, are examined in these plays. The church cannot hide these issues in the storage room, when the choirs are filled with unwholesome relationships, when the mother boards are consumed with loneliness and fear, and when the congregations are infested with unforgiveness and apathy. These plays are tools that should expose self-righteousness. Just as Jesus exposed the self-righteousness of the Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the priests, these plays will expose the self-righteousness of all who believe they are above the actions of the characters of these plays. For we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. It is only by the grace of God that we were pulled from the clutches of hell. For it is by grace that we have been saved, through faith in Jesus, and this is not because of anything we have done, it is the gift of God, so no one can boast. All of our righteousness are as filthy rags. Jesus is the one who declares us righteous through faith in Him. And, it is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are kept free from a life of sin.Let these Plays of Praise minister to you.James E. Stodghill Jr.
