Dear Reader, I want to share with you the childhood experiences that have inspired me to think outside the box. It's a story that has challenged my beliefs, opened my mind to new possibilities, and encouraged me to embrace the unknown. I started writing this memoir after my adoptive mother died from cancer in 1997 when I was twenty-five years old.Writing about my childhood was a way to cope with the struggles in life, such as my adoptive father's traumatic brain injury, which drastically changed our lives in 1984. My memoir is more than just about adapting; it was a challenge to break free from the limitations of my thinking and to explore the world around me with curiosity and wonder.I hope that you will be inspired to question the status quo in which you might find yourself, challenge your assumptions, and discover new ways of looking at the world. This memoir focuses on why and how my family went from "normal" to "paranormal" during what I refer to as the "dark" ages of my life. So, if you're ready to embark on a journey of discovery and explore the boundaries of your imagination with me, this is the book for you. Remember, the world is full of endless adventures, and I'd love for you to join me as I journey into discovering another time and place--the 1970s and 80s! Happy reading, and may you be blessed with all the good luck the universe has to offer.Your new friend, JaninePS To fellow adoptee-rights activists, please note that I do not address adoption politics, the investigations against the evangelical adoption agencies, or child trafficking in this childhood memoir of mine. Twins Found in a Box reveals how and why we left what many call a "box of limitations" or organized religion in 1997 and expanded our philosophy to include the paranormal and Eastern Philosophy
Need to "stay calm and carry on" in today's harsh landscape, which seems so divided on various levels? For any one of us who has ever been demeaned and demoralized prompted by misconstrued assumptions about who "you" are, use one or two of these suggestions for your benefit. The Power of Isolation is inspired by the author's father, who used the relaxation techniques found inside this book throughout his recovery after a traumatic brain injury in 1984 that left him physically disabled. The mindful ideas can be practiced by anyone, at any time and at any location, and was used by the author during times of stress when she served as caregiver for almost fifty years. It does not matter who you are or what limitations, political or religious leanings one way or another you might have. This short book was written to empower and strengthen your ability to align with your greater self. It was originally dedicated to and written for the author's children, but if you, the reader, are uplifted by a tip or two, the author believes the pain the family endured will have been worth the struggle.
