Struggling to feed his family of nine kids, Jara Beckum has worked in the construction field for the last thirty-eight years. His knowledge in the construction world is very keen as he has did everything but plumbing and electrical work. He started in the field of construction in the eighties in Austin. Construction was at its boom in Texas then. About fifteen years ago, a back problem forced him to slow down. So he enrolled in college to earn a degree in construction management and soon after a certification as an OSHA outreach instructor. Up to this point life has been good; he didn't have to struggle anymore-or so he thought. The safety man gets hurt, and his efforts to provide for his family is cast to the back seat. Now, struggling takes on a new meaning as he prepares himself for work each day. Read his story as he tells it through the "sorrys" and pain and having to struggle to keep face with everyone around him. You'll laugh and cry as his story unfolds, giving you a front seat of his mind-set as he deals with the accident and having to keep up with normal life.
