This story is based on a game Naturalist Jared Goodykoontz's young students enjoy playing. Plant a garden and have a pollinator party. Red, a gnome, plants a garden while his grumpy neighbor, Blue, his grumpy neighbor, watches. Bees, butterflies & birds enjoy Red's party. In the end, Blue is intrigued and plants a flower to the delight of the local monarch butterflies. Red and Blue's story is delightful, but the true stars are the flowers, birds, bees, butterflies, and other insects. Although drawn on gnome-scaled, the illustrations of insects, birds, and plants are real animals and flowers, many which occur in the illustrator's own suburban garden.
We have emotions; we have language to express those emotions. Do birds? Mushroom siblings Mooshy Moo and Grumpus find out with the help of a local flock of Chickadees and a tricky wizard named Flim Flam. Kiddos will explore native Ohio birds, bird life, feelings and kindness in this third book of Jared Goodykoontz's Little Adventures Big Connections series. This book was created using bits of nature from the author's land. It includes activities and resources in the back with 15% of profits going to the Ohio Ornithological Society!
