This book includes a comprehensive list of 'Who's Who' in the Jemma Spark series of Jill books, including humans and animals. There are 2 short stories by Jemma Spark. The first, narrated by Jill, is 'The Engagement Party', which is the tale of Cecilia Talbot's engagement party held at Blainstock Castle. The guests arrive on Thursday evening. They go trekking in the Highlands, sailing and canoeing on the loch. There is a fancy dress party on Saturday night and on the following morning, one of the guests cannot be found. A full-scale search ensues. Jill, Ann Derry and Dinah Dean set their minds to discovering the missing guest and who is responsible for her sinister disappearance. The second short story is narrated by Susan Barrington-Brown, featured in 'Jill and the Prizewinners', and introduces Noel, Henry and Christo to the Jill series.
This is one of seven books, which comprise the Jill series by Jemma Spark. They''re a follow-on of the original Ruby Ferguson Jill books, which were the most popular pony books of their time and translated into many languages. Ostensibly, they are classified as Young Adult, and contain no explicit adult content. However, they fit more neatly into a developing genre with a devoted following called ''Pony Books for Adults''. They are set in the early 1960s and contain little nuggets of interesting historical context of the post-war years. There is also a strong element of horses and ponies, which appeal to the huge population of pony-lovers and horse-lovers. The series includes ''Jill Rides Cross-Country'', ''Jill Has Two Horses'', ''Jill Goes Pony Trekking'', Jill and the Steeplechaser'', ''Jill Dreams of a Dressage Horse'', ''Jill and the Horsemasters'' and ''All Change at Blainstock Stables''. They have consistently achieved ''best-seller'' status in their genre on Amazon. A French translation, ''Les Aventures de Jill: Des Ponies aux Chevaux'' will be published shortly. Jill Crewe returns to England after a month of dressage training in Germany and is beset with a burning ambition to buy her own dressage horse and compete at the highest levels. During her childhood she dreamed of jumping in the open jumping at Chatton Show, now she wants to represent England in the dressage competitions at the Olympics. She is scheduled to work as an assistant to the Master of the Horse while the film Macbeth is being shot at her home Blainstock Castle, in the Scottish Highlands. By chance, she finds a dressage horse right under her nose and can think of nothing but how to raise the huge amount of money that she needs to buy it.

Until now, Jill has avoided the irksome issue of romance, but at this stage of her life she finds herself in the grip of an infatuation for a dashing and accomplished horseman. Training her dressage horse, pursuing a career as a journalist, and attracting a handsome man lead her into a series of madcap adventures and misadventures.
