Words, words and more words part 2 is what this book is about. This is the more advanced version of the phonics and is designed to be done after the completion of Phonics book 1. It is not just about giving them phonics practice but to also increase their reading fluency. You will notice there are a lot pictures in this book to depict what the words mean and that is because this book can be used for English Language Learners as well so help them put a picture to a word to help it make sense. There are also some words that I intententionally left for the students to have to use a dictionary to look up and get them familiar with using a dictionary.
When we connect reading to writing, not only does it make it more interactive, but it makes it more interesting as well. We go from learning to read to reading to learn and when we extend our reading to writing it adds to the understanding. Notice that all of these words are verbs which mean they are action words. This leads us to understand that the more active that students are in the reading process, the more successful they will be in their endeavors, and it will also grow their desire to read and write.
Reading Strategies add purpose to and for reading. We go from learning to read to reading to learn and reading strategies help us to process what it is that we read. Notice that both of these words are verbs which means they are action words. This leads us to understand that the more active that students are in the reading process the more successful they will be in their endeavors, and it will also grow their desire to do so.
Having been an educator for a number of years, I understand the importance of reading fluency to the joy of the literary experience. You read too slow you lose interest, you read too fast and you don't comprehend as much. One of the reasons so many people struggle with it is because no one ever explained the method to the madness, but I am telling you, there is a way that can hook students to reading and fluency and it's all hidden within the pages of this book...let's explore!
This book is all about sight words. Though there are some activities in the back that you can use, I am more focused on the word lists for grade levels from Prek to 12th grade. The more words that students know, the easier it is for them to read. There is no one way to use this book because I want you to feel free to make it as creative and interactive as you like.
This book is all about phonics and words and seeing the exceptions that are in the English language. Some of the pages are activity driven but I am more so about the reading fundamental of it. The more words that students know, the easier it is for them to read. Direction are not written on all of the pages because, I want you to feel free to make it as creative and interactive as you like. Some ideas could be extending the word list by adding words, you can also alphabetize the words or manipulate the words to make new ones, even if they are nonsense words. The creative opportunities are endless with this resource so let's get to spelling!!
When Jennifer Gilbert was twenty-two years old, someone tried to cut her life short in the most violent way. Not wanting this traumatic encounter to define her life, she buried it within and bravely launched a fabulous career in New York as an event planner. Always the calm in the storm?from fixing a ripped dress to relocating a lavish party on two days' notice?she was convinced she'd never again feel joy herself. Yet these weddings, anniversaries, and holiday parties slowly brought her back to life. No one's entitled to an easy road, Gilbert learned, but instead of anticipating our present in a goodie bag, it's our presence that is the real gift.
