Beacon Lights of History is a 14-volume set first published in 1902. This collection of John Lords lectures spans 6,000 years of European and American history. The first 12 volumes are all Lords work; the 13th was completed from his notes and the 14th is follow-ups by other authors.

Based on the voluminous Boultori and Watt papers, this book aims to be an important contribution to economic history. It sketches the economic conditions from 1700 to 1750 and also presents a study of the application of steam to industry. It also traces the history of technology and of the Industrial Revolution in Britain.
