Introduction: The buccal mucosa can be affected by traumatic lesions, viral, fungal and bacterial infections, as well as benign and malignant tumours, developmental malformations and autoimmune, genetic and psychosomatic diseases, among others.Objective: To clinically and epidemiologically characterise patients with oral cancer and other lesions of the oromaxillofacial complex.Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on 56 patients of both sexes, with some morphological alteration evident in the buccomaxillofacial complex, attended in the Stomatology Service of the Policlínico Eduardo Mesa Llull of the II Frente municipality of Santiago de Cuba, from September 2015 to the same month of 2017. The variables analysed included: age, sex, skin colour, anatomical location, definitive diagnosis and histological type. Primary information was obtained from interviews and medical records. In addition, a thorough physical examination was performed and biopsy specimens were taken to diagnose the conditions present.

Einleitung: Die Wangenschleimhaut kann unter anderem durch traumatische Läsionen, virale, pilzliche und bakterielle Infektionen sowie gut- und bösartige Tumore, Entwicklungsstörungen, Autoimmunerkrankungen, genetische und psychosomatische Erkrankungen beeinträchtigt werden.Ziel: Klinische und epidemiologische Charakterisierung von Patienten mit Mundkrebs und anderen Läsionen des oromaxillofazialen Komplexes.Methode: Es wurde eine deskriptive Querschnittsstudie an 56 Patienten beiderlei Geschlechts mit morphologischen Veränderungen im Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtskomplex durchgeführt, die von September 2015 bis zum gleichen Monat des Jahres 2017 in der stomatologischen Abteilung des Policlínico Eduardo Mesa Llull des Stadtbezirks II Frente in Santiago de Cuba behandelt wurden. Zu den analysierten Variablen gehörten: Alter, Geschlecht, Hautfarbe, anatomische Lage, endgültige Diagnose und histologischer Typ. Die primären Informationen wurden aus Befragungen und medizinischen Aufzeichnungen gewonnen. Darüber hinaus wurde eine gründliche körperliche Untersuchung durchgeführt, und es wurden Biopsieproben entnommen, um die vorliegenden Erkrankungen zu diagnostizieren.

Introduzione: La mucosa buccale può essere colpita da lesioni traumatiche, infezioni virali, fungine e batteriche, nonché da tumori benigni e maligni, malformazioni dello sviluppo e malattie autoimmuni, genetiche e psicosomatiche, tra le altre.Obiettivo: caratterizzare clinicamente ed epidemiologicamente i pazienti con cancro orale e altre lesioni del complesso oromaxillofacciale.Metodi: è stato condotto uno studio descrittivo e trasversale su 56 pazienti di entrambi i sessi, con qualche alterazione morfologica evidente nel complesso buccomaxillofacciale, assistiti nel Servizio di Stomatologia del Policlínico Eduardo Mesa Llull del municipio II Frente di Santiago de Cuba, da settembre 2015 allo stesso mese del 2017. Le variabili analizzate comprendevano: età, sesso, colore della pelle, sede anatomica, diagnosi definitiva e tipo istologico. Le informazioni primarie sono state ottenute da interviste e cartelle cliniche. Inoltre, è stato eseguito un esame fisico approfondito e sono stati prelevati campioni bioptici per diagnosticare le condizioni presenti.

Introduction : La muqueuse buccale peut être affectée par des lésions traumatiques, des infections virales, fongiques et bactériennes, ainsi que par des tumeurs bénignes et malignes, des malformations développementales et des maladies auto-immunes, génétiques et psychosomatiques, entre autres.Objectif : caractériser cliniquement et épidémiologiquement les patients atteints de cancer de la bouche et d'autres lésions du complexe oromaxillofacial.Méthodes : Une étude descriptive et transversale a été réalisée sur 56 patients des deux sexes, présentant une altération morphologique évidente dans le complexe bucco-maxillo-facial, suivis dans le service de stomatologie du Policlínico Eduardo Mesa Llull de la municipalité II Frente de Santiago de Cuba, de septembre 2015 au même mois de 2017. Les variables analysées comprenaient : l'âge, le sexe, la couleur de la peau, la localisation anatomique, le diagnostic définitif et le type histologique. Les informations primaires ont été obtenues à partir d'entretiens et de dossiers médicaux. Introdução: A mucosa bucal pode ser afetada por lesões traumáticas, infecções virais, fúngicas e bacterianas, bem como por tumores benignos e malignos, malformações do desenvolvimento e doenças auto-imunes, genéticas e psicossomáticas, entre outras.Objetivo: Caracterizar clínica e epidemiologicamente os doentes com cancro oral e outras lesões do complexo oromaxilofacial.Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo descritivo e transversal em 56 pacientes de ambos os sexos, com alguma alteração morfológica evidente no complexo bucomaxilofacial, atendidos no Serviço de Estomatologia do Policlínico Eduardo Mesa Llull do município II Frente de Santiago de Cuba, no período de setembro de 2015 ao mesmo mês de 2017. As variáveis analisadas foram: idade, sexo, cor da pele, localização anatómica, diagnóstico definitivo e tipo histológico. A informação primária foi obtida através de entrevistas e registos médicos. Para além disso, foi realizado um exame físico minucioso e foram recolhidas amostras de biópsia para diagnosticar as condições presentes.
