Hilda Fortune is a young working woman in London, whose survival depends on her rigorous routine of work. She is a woman of means or so her neighbors think, but, she is alone and looking for love too. Some of her world is punctuated with family who visit, and a love of the city and the theatres and galleries that abund. The will to succeed is ingrained in her being, but the capital presents obstacles and challenges. There is a murderer on the loose of gay men. A cafe owner with a strange habit. And a new found friend from the mountains of France. There are snares in the undergrowth and strangers in the shadows and a lovely boy called Dennis who loves playing football in her garden.
Holiday romantic thriller, The Island, is a story of single Brits abroad, exploring the Greek Isle of Thasos. The island's treasures include ancient Greek theaters, and markets. And nightly places of entertainment, discos, and dancing. There is danger in the hills beyond the island resort areas, a vagrant tramp-like ragged man, who lives alone but frequents the town. Four tourists, Eric, Miranda, Hannah, and Sally, who meet up on the plane coming over, encounter characters who are part of the daily throng of island life. Romance is in the air, with Thomas Williamson the author of some best selling books, Tobias Grosni, a photographer with a penchant for women of beauty and typical femme fatales. Meet Lisa Tanner an investigative journalist seeking a fugitive millionaire she believes has escaped to live in hiding on the island. There is romance, murder and intrigue in this ancient of places, with a history almost as old as the majestic tree covered mountains, that climb to a steep height at its center.
"Imagine to kill him once was murder to keep stabbing him and then, to make sure he was dead, he was shot as well! And no one managed to stop the person who killed him, I guess no one dare approach him, he got away! It was dark. How many people would dare to go this far over a drawing?'' Irene and Michel are cartoon satirists, coming away from a traumatic event. They take a vacation to Italy to gain some new inspiration and to recoup their emotions unwittingly pursued by their deadly foe.
