When you're desperate...do desperate things...otherwise nothing will ever change ... This is the story of my life, Louis J. Valente, D.M.D. B.S., M.D., a first-generation Italian American. I was born on September 2, 1934 in Milford, Massachusetts, 30 miles south west of Boston. I am the youngest of five sons born to immigrant parents. In order to truly understand me, one must read the entire book before judging the measure of who I am. I grew up in a very modest environment, under difficult conditions. My story may not be very different from that of millions of immigrants or first-generation descendants. They had hopes and dreams that life in America would be easier, opportunities more abundant and prosperity just around the corner. I am the product of that culture.
Poetry for the Masses is a mixture of scenes, themes and tales in rhyme that were all inspired from nights at Sunset Pizza in Okatie, SC. Filled with innuendo, fantasies, flirtations and observations that may be familiar to many. Inside there are also inside jokes and symbolism that may take time to understand but the true sense of humor will make itself known after only a little reading. All in all an enjoyable adventure. An interesting note is aside from the first few from Somethings Never Fade, they were all written and published consecutively.
