Leger's family are taking a trip to a tiny Scottish island and he is looking forward to spending the summer with Annabella, Hugh and Bob. But when he discovers he is to stay in Glasgow with Annabella's niece, Carole, while the rest of the family go on their trip he is outraged. Leger hears there has been a murder on the island and knows he has to somehow travel with them and assist in finding the killer. What he didn't count on was meeting a fellow cat sleuth on the island as well as a clowder of unfriendly gossips. The island way of life proves to be very different from Glasgow. Can he deal with culture shock as well as solve the crime? Can he and Lily, the beautiful calico detective work together to solve this case or will their egos prevent them from becoming friends?
With Billy Johnston arrested for his recent crime, Leger and the clowder assumed he would be behind bars and they could all move on with their lives. However, it was not to be, and after being released he becomes the victim of a revenge attack. Naturally, Nicole is at the top of the list of suspects but Leger knows she is innocent and sets out to find the real attacker in the hope that this will divert everyone's attention away from Nicole. What he finds out however, may bring him face to face with an old enemy he had hoped to never see again. Meanwhile, in need of a distraction from her recent troubles, Nicole decides to plan a birthday party for Leger. He doesn't want any fuss until it looks like the attacker might show face at the party. Then he welcomes the opportunity to meet this young man once again.
Disillusioned, with their dreams of running an island hotel shattered, the McInnes family return to Glasgow. Hugh and Annabella are planning to go travelling, leaving Leger in the care of the Goldsworthy family while they are gone. He wastes no time on self-pity though and throws himself back into his work. Shortly before arriving back in the city, he learns Nicole has been attacked. With the police taking too long to track down the culprit, Leger and Bob get on the case. However, Isabella can't stop flirting, Ginger is acting out of character and Amber is taking risks that put lives in danger. Leger starts to wonder how the clowder ever coped without him.
He thought she was lost forever but he has finally tracked her down. Leger reunites with his friend, former housemate and fellow detective, Lily and she's back in his life just in time to help him solve a mystery. When John, the man of the house in Leger's temporary home, unexpectedly vanishes, Leger initially is not concerned. After all, he and John have never really seen eye to eye. Why would he care if John went for a really long walk? But, Lily suspects that John is in danger and with very little in the way of clues, something Lily heard might transpire to be invaluable to the investigation.
A wedding is due to take place but the freshly decorated venue has been sabotaged. Leger sets out to catch the vandal and reconnect with the sisters he hasn't seen since kittenhood. But they have a secret and despite Amber's attempts to protect him from the truth, it seems he is going to find out that family is about more than blood.
Glasgow's finest feline sleuth, Leger McInnes, returns and this time he tackles his most disturbing case yet! His friend Winter is traumatised and unable to speak following the horrific experience of witnessing a murder. Leger vows to track down the murderer and find closure for Winter. This will not be an easy task for Leger. With Winter unable to help, despite knowing exactly what occurred and his sidekick Ginger incarcerated while she is in season, Leger struggles to piece together the events of the night of the murder. He seeks comfort from Samara, the pretty new Persian housecat who has recently arrived in the area and dodges unwanted assistance from Ginger's daughter, Amber, while he is collecting clues. However, the clues he retrieves may be leading him in the wrong direction. Can he solve the mystery of who murdered Fred? Will he be able to protect Amber from becoming involved in a world she is not yet ready to enter? Will he finally decide who he wants to give his affections to: Winter or Ginger?
Leger and the clowder are back and have their hearts set on putting the infamous Harvey behind bars. They are taking shifts to watch him around the clock but it seems someone else is too... When Leger, delirious and heartbroken after Ginger's latest bombshell, finds himself at Billy Johnston's house in the middle of the night looking for Harvey, he witnesses a truly disturbing crime about to be carried out. The only thing that stops it from happening and chases the perpetrator away is the sight of Leger's Shadow on the wall. Leger finds himself conflicted and overwhelmed at this turn of events when the man he was so desperate to put behind bars in recent months suddenly becomes the victim. All the while, he uncovers secrets, lies and devastating truths, culminating in the departure of two of this series' most beloved characters.
Spring has arrived in Glasgow and Leger has a new mystery to solve! When his neighbours return from their winter break in Spain, they begin fighting with the other residents on a daily basis and losing friends at every turn. Someone deliberately sets their garden shed on fire, endangering all humans and animals in the nearby homes. Leger then learns that his hedgehog friend was hibernating in the shed has suddenly vanished and he knows he must track down the arsonist. It won't be easy but this time he has the help of not one but two mollies. Ginger's daughter Amber has finally come of age and he deems her mature enough to help with his enquiries, but suddenly she seems reluctant to become involved and at times even hinders the investigation. Leger is determined to solve this case with or without Amber's help and track down the arsonist.
Leger isn't the detective this time - he's the witness. After saving Poppy from an attack, Leger must guide troubled teenager Daniel Goldsworthy on the right path to discovering the crime has been committed, solving the mystery and putting the perpetrator behind bars. However, it proves an almost impossible task since Leger himself has a lot to deal with. Between a potentially lethal trapped hairball causing him extreme pain, a group of friends who are determined to do his job for him and a mischief of vigilante mice, Leger finds it difficult to tackle the task. Will Leger put his own recovery first or risk everything to finally put right everything that's gone wrong since he got back in Glasgow?
There's no such thing as magic. That's what Leger keeps telling himself. But following a girls' night out, Leger finds that he is gifted a voodoo doll of Peter. He can't help himself from whispering his thoughts to the effigy before Bob gets a hold of the doll and mistakes it for a chew toy. Within hours, Peter is found beaten to within an inch of his life. Leger takes on the case, determined to find those responsible for the assault on Peter. With the help of his daughter, Sparkle and her best friend, a frog named Simpson, he starts piecing together clues. When a dead black cat turns up on Annabella's doorstep and Daniel shares details of a mysterious message received by Peter just hours before the attack, Leger starts to wonder if all these incidents are related.
