In the near future, Earth becomes caught in the middle of an extraterrestrial turf war and hopelessly entangled in a race between two species to colonize the galaxy. At a time when Earth's resources are stretched to their limits, a seemingly friendly alien species offers advanced technology if humans will help colonize distant planets. Planning expert Mike Silver shocks his family and friends by joining a colony destined for the supposedly uninhabited planet Kepler 14b. Even as he steps up and is elected city planner, he is shocked to be appointed mayor just before the colonists leave Earth. Unknown to the friendly aliens or humans, a clandestine team of the other alien species is sent to disrupt the planned Earth colonies. Mike and the other colonists struggle to adapt to a new world inhabited by numerous animal species, cave-dwelling tribes, and unknown saboteurs. As these obstacles are slowly overcome, Mike is recruited by the friendly aliens to help other human colonies that are struggling and potentially failing. When the two alien species both lay claims to the same planet, Mike must act as a mediator and prevent resumption of hostilities between the two species that could threaten the human colonists as well.
Welcome to the little town of Playnesville. Things might seem a little strange here but be assured that these are just regular folks... regular folks with most irregular experiences. From these irregularities arise great stories and here is just one of those stories, told by a real-life local at the trusty town pub, ever present for any weary travellers. This here story in particular is concerned with the history behind 'The Mercantile: General Store' which was the location of some very strange and sinister goings-on... things you'd rather see only in your nightmares. Violence, mystery and terror fills the quiet town of Playnesville, but the simple lives of the townsfolk must go on.
Lighter than a feather yet stronger than steel, Graphenewill carry you through the air someday. Before airplanes crossed the oceans, gigantic gas-filled airships cruised serenely between Europe and North and South America. The horrific 1937 crash of the Hindenburg, the pride of Nazi Germany, ended that phase of passenger travel, and more than twenty years passed before heavier-than-air passenger airliners could cross the Atlantic again. In Graphene, Alexandra Shultz's dream of reviving that lost age of air travel comes true when she enters a proposal for a Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) cruise ship into an entrepreneur's contest, and billionaire venture capitalist Max Brita becomes a believer. Together they take the LTA concept and the miraculous new material Graphene into products and vessels the original dirigible designers never would have dreamt of.
Jack Garrett, a world-renowned marine/project engineer, is assigned a seemingly impossible task - construct an entire city under the sea in less than three years! To complete this task, he must overcome unfriendly forces of nature, a project that is only partially funded with a tight timetable and impatient investors, while implementing unproven, cutting-edge technology. Even as he struggles with natural and man-made obstacles, he is not even aware of a team of saboteurs determined to derail the project at any cost.
It's been a while since I told ya a story. What, a couple of days? I think it's about time for me to tell ya about Clyde and how he got here. Well, just sit down there and get comfy.Old Clyde is from the southern States and his life is not easy; he's chased, harassed and threatened by bigoted locals who hate him simply for the colour of his skin. However, as though through some kind of karmic justice, supernatural elements start to come into play in the town. Strange vampiric creatures lurk in the darkness and prey on those who come too close, though some are luckier than others. Told like a bedtime story from your grandfather, this short fable inspires, terrifies and makes you chuckle.
Welcome to Sacrificale Grove. The place that no one ever plans on comin'' to, and the place that no one ever leaves. You''ll see some right peculiar folk round here, that''s for sure. I can see by the look on your face that you''re a bit confused. Never mind about that old path you''re lookin'' at; you don''t want to cut through those woods north of here that''s out by Clyde''s old shack. You might think it''s a short cut, but it ain''t. Yep, there is a trail that leads into the woods. You can''t see too much in there; it''s always foggy in there. You go in there, you don''t come back out. Even on the clearest of days, there is a thick foggy mist. Oh, and look out for them strange womenfolk and don''t trust ''em at all... Be seein'' ya real soon - y''all here to stay now...
