Die Betrachtungen stützen sich dazu sowohl auf Theorien über filmisches Raumdenken als auch auf sozial- und kulturwissenschaftliche Ansätze und Positionen, die im Kontext der Inter- und Transkulturalität von Bedeutung sind. Die Analyse konzentriert sich auf insgesamt sechs filmische Werke von zwei zeitgenössischen Filmemachern aus Deutschland und Frankreich: Fatih Akin und Abdellatif Kechiche.
