While we start to age the moment we are born, the topic of the ageing process appears to be one that is viewed negatively when individuals reach middle age - commonly thought to be around the age of fifty - with a general resignation that hair loss or thinning is inevitable or skin will become wrinkled contributing to a huge sense of loss at passing youth. When people visit their health care providers, they are informed that their aches and pains are just part of the ageing process and that it should be accepted along with a prescription for analgesics and cholesterol lowering medications at the very least. The author argues that normal ageing processes have nothing to do with pain, lack of youthful vitality or inevitable skin and hair changes. Most of these changes occur due to deficiencies which tend to occur more often in the older generation due to poorer absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, poor dietary habits and an inability to aborb nutrients as well due to medications and specific nutrient deficiences all of which can be addressed quite easily so that reversal of the allegedly negative impact of the ageing process, begins immediately. Balance is restored, good quality sleep returns, aches and pains disappear, and skin takes on a healthy colour. These can be achieved in less than one month. In addition, the author includes treatment protocols for well known health condtions affecting this particular age group including tinnitus, cancer, H pylori and pain, among others. A must have book for those who wish to avoid some of the negative aspects of ageing..
The pain from fibromyalgia, arthritis - both the inflammatory rheumatoid arthritis and the degenerative osteoarthritis - and from soft tissue injury affects countless people throughout the world. It impacts on their quality of life and results in many lost working hours. In this book, the author looks at the causes of pain relating to the inflammatory and non inflammatory conditions and explains how we can tell the difference. She looks at what underlying processes are going on in the acute stages of pain and how they differ from the stages found in chronic pain. She answers questions which relate to localised and general pain and what substances can be causing these and how they can be addressed simply and easily. This book will explain what your GP doesn't have time to explain to you. It will help empower you so that you can take charge of your pain . Another great book from health lecturer and medical nutritionist, Lynne Noble
Lymphoedema is a chronic disease which can cause unsightly swelling in any part of the body due to a damaged lymphatic system. The symptoms of lymphoedema are increasing disability, disfigurement and pain. The current treatment is to wear compression garments 24 hours a day and apply massage to try and encourage the stagnant lymph to move through the system. However, all the while the risk of infection is very high.Lymphoedema can occur after surgery or during cancer therapy treatment; sometimes this can occur immediately after the event or, in some cases, it can occur years later. The fact that lymphoedema can occur years after surgery, when some lymph nodes may have been removed suggest that the remaining lymph nodes have been able to cope until something has occurred that has tipped the balance. Once thought to be irreversible and due to a plumbing problem, a ground breaking study has now uncovered the molecular mechanism responsible for triggering lymphoedema. Lymphoedema is now known to be due to inflammation - not a plumbing problem. This suggests that even if some lymph nodes have been removed they are not the direct cause of the lymphoedema. The illness or injury necessitating their removal, or responsible for their damage, has set up an inflammatory response. It is this that needs to be addressed.Lymphoedema was first found to be a problem due to inflammation when studies showed that ketoprofen - an anti-inflammatory - was successful in alleviating the symptoms of lymphoedema. While a prescription drug to reverse this mechanism is still in the offing there are a number of nutritional substances which can inhibit the same inflammatory processes that are specific to the genesis and progression of lymphoedema. They work on the same principle to reduce and reverse the damaging effects of inflammation on the lymphatic system. This book is intended to inform lymphoedema patients of the latest - and successful -research about this condition and how this this knowledge can be applied now by adapting the diet so that the inflammatory changes that fuel the progression of lymphoedema are inhibited. The author describes simply and clearly what causes the debilitaing changes and, just as simply, shows what can inhibit the underlying aetiology, through diet using foods and supplements which are easily available
What is obesity? Does the BMI measure it and if not, why was it invented? Is weight gain all down to too many calories going in and not enough being expended or are there are other reasons for weight gain? Is it possible to lose weight without dieting and, if so, how? Which common medications can cause rapid weight gain and which common mineral can do the job of an oft prescribed medication for nerve pain which often causes massive weight gain? Are all calories equal? Well no, there are some foods that are recommended in calorie controlled diets that can actually cause weight gain. How can some bread cause weight gain and others not and no! it isn't all to do with whether it is wholemeal or white bread. Can exercise actually increase weight and, if so, how? What do diuretics have to do with gaining weight - they do, but how? What impact does yellow light have on weight? All these and many other questions are answered in this book. It is the ultimate guide for those who don't do diets but want to know why they gained weight and more importantly how to lose it - simply and without stress. Another no nonsense book from lecturer and medical nutritionist, Lynne Noble
We talk about identity a great deal but rarely do we ever pull apart this concept to truly understand what it really means yet our self-esteem is dependent on how we see ourselves and this can impact on so many areas of our lives. Poor self-esteem can disrupt our confidence, our life chances, our relationships and our ability to look after ourselves. Poor self-esteem is found in those who are vulnerable to mental health problems such as stress, anxiety and depression. The turnaround is, if we can help change identity will that impact positively on mental health? If so, how can that be achieved? The workbook focuses on core constructs and fluid identities and how these are either inherited or formed by others at vulnerable times in our lives. In addition, challenges in lives create new identities for us. These help strengthen us until we have well integrated and robust identities which help us weather most eventualities in life. Those individuals who wish to be people helpers will learn much from this 5 week course with an optional sixth week attached. It is always recommended that the course is undertaken first - by an individual preferably in small group work but it can be worked on alone - before working with others. It is suitable for church groups, people helpers in general, qualified counsellors and those working with vulnerable clients in whatever capacity. It is not suitable for those under the age of sixteen since worksheet one requires of oneself ten years prior to the present.A suitable children's book on identity will be rolled out in 2021.The author is qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy, person centred counselling and holds qualifications in mental health. She has lectured widely in these subjects as well as issues relating to health conditions and how nutritional medicine can respond to these.A book which may be useful to read alongside this workbook is 'Effective treatment for anxiety, stress and depression'. Available on Amazon, worldwide.
This book is intended to address the more troubling symptoms of EDS that have been raised by patients with EDS. The most debilitating symptoms - as described to the author - are gastrointestinal symptoms, gastroparesis, pain and sleep disorders. These are addressed in some detail in this book but, of course they are not isolated from other symptoms and references to other symptoms, that afflict those with EDS, such as dysautonomia, will be examined. The author recommends that this book is used in conjunction with the book The EDS and Hypermobility Syndrome Diet Book since following this diet will ultimately improve the condition overall if it is followed. This book is intended to identify the underlying causes and treat the symptoms of EDS that exist during that time. As always, the author does not propose increasing prescribed medication to cope with symptoms. Bespoke nutrition is regenerating, not degenerating, so there should be less need for medication as time goes on. Besides, prescribed medication has so many side effects that much of the patient's medication is prescribed to reduce the side effects of the medication given in the first place. It is prescribed to mask symptoms and does not deal with the underlying cause. You will also be amazed at some of the causes of gastroparesis, which is very common in EDS, and begin to understand how to address it. What the author prescribes, in this book, is an understanding of the processes underpinning a disease and bespoke nutrition to address it. Some of the beneficial effects will be felt almost immediately and others will take time to manifest themselves but they will manifest themselves if the diet is adhered to. There is a life outside EDS and this book is intended to signpost you to it.
Cancers appear to be increasing at a time when people are finding it even more difficult to access the care they need. Not many decades ago, the likelihood of someone being diagnosed with cancer was one in four. Now it is one in two. While some people will wish to take cancer treatments offered through their local health service, others will want to look at alternative treatments as an adjunctive treatment or as an alternative treatment entirely. Sometimes patients are informed that there is 'nothing more that can be done' but the author warns that this only applies to the particular treatment that any specific organisation is willing or able to offer within their 'area of expertise' which rarely offers nutritional or homeopathic solutions. Patients should always have a choice but in order to have a choice, the information has to be available. This book focuses on the value of nutritional medicine, which has a great deal to offer the patient with cancer, without the debilitating side effects of some of the more current conventional treatments. Bespoke nutrition activates and increases the number of specific immune system cells which actively seek out and kill tumour cells. This approach firmly puts the patient in the driving seat helping them take an active and considered part in their treatment.
Many people will suffer from mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, during their lives. For some it may only happen once but, for others, these become enduring in nature impacting not only their lives but the lives who care for them.Prolonged stress can lead to a depletion of neurochemicals which impact mood. Lack of motivation and lack of pleasure can be addressed very easily and quickly once you learn how to use food and the nutrients it holds to your advantage.Prescription drugs aren't necessary and do carry with them a lot of side effects such as weight gain and, strangely enough, anxiety. Some nutrients, on the other hand can impact mood in as little as a couple of minutes provided they are taken on an empty stomach. Just as they can reduce anxiety and depression, they can also increase it so choosing nutrients wisely can make all the difference to mental health.Once you have learned the very simple lessons about the impact that nutrients have on mental health then you will be able to make judicious choices about what would be beneficial. All these nutrients are easily available in food that you should be eating everyday but they are also obtainable in supplement form for those who need an extra boost. This book is infinitely readable by medical nutritionist, Lynne Noble, who has taught these skills to many people. More importantly, what she has to teach, works and has revolutionised the lives of many people.
There are many books on foraging but this book is for beginners who wish learn more about the amazing range of incredible foodstuffs growing right on their doorstep which they had previously not recognised as being edible. This book then takes this knowledge a little further, and shows you how to preserve it for later use or how to use it in a wide range of healthy dishes using minimum input from supermarket products. Indeed, as your knowledge progresses, you will find that your stressful visits to the supermarket are reduced considerably while the therapeutic walks in our beautiful countryside are increased. Foraging is a pastime which can be taken by yourself giving you time to reflect upon life but, as a child, it was a family outing where we gathered and processed an abundance of nature's harvest right on our doorstep. It was never a task I resented for there was more satisfaction in gathering your own lunch than there ever would have been nipping down to the supermarket in the car. There is a more serious side to this too. Food shortages appear to be on the cards and in order to supplement the diet in order to keep healthy, a basic knowledge of foraging, at the very least - is necessary. Once you can identify ten edible plants then you are on the way to becoming self sufficient. Many of these plants are available during the winter but it is knowing which ones and further, how to process them, that gives you the edge when it comes to self-sufficiency in the winter months. A little knowledge of their nutritional value is included since many plants produce an abundance of complex carbohydrates but we also need fats and protein in order to stay healthy. There are some plants which produce excellent amounts of protein and fats. Understanding which these are will help you make wise choices when it comes to feeding yourself - and your family - off the land
Migraine must be a contender for one of the most debilitating conditions and misunderstood conditions that there are. The impact that it has on the sufferer and their significant others is immeasurable and the working hours lost are great. Migraineurs are incapable of taking care of themselves never mind a young family when they are struck down so it is especially important that there is effective treatment for this debilitating condition.Although there are treatments available on prescription, many do not work or have unacceptable side effects or are taken too late in the stages of migraine. So, what are the stages of migraine? Why don't some migraine treatments work? Are there nutritional supplements that I can take that will work well but without the side effects of prescription medication? Is it possible to change the course of migraine once it has begun or shorten it if it is in full swing? The author, a medical nutritionist and a former migraineur herself, takes you through the stages of migraine explaining what happens at each stage and how intervention at each stage can prevent the migraine from progressing. Finally, she reveals the breakthrough that has meant that she has been able to stop her migraines altogether by simple dietary interventions which target the process prior to its initiation.
Tinnitus is not a condition it is a symptom that something is wrong and has many underlying causes. Relegating it to a symptom often means that the devastating impact that it has on the sufferer's life is not really understood or taken seriously. However, this symptom should be taken seriously for it often is comorbid with the socially isolating hearing impairments and further, is often one of the first symptoms that those with subclinical dementia. often experience. In the early stages such degenerative diseases are reversible - indeed the nutrients which improve tinnitus and hearing impairment are often the same ones that are found to be deficient in neurodegenerative disease. Addressing one often addresses the more serious condition that tinnitus is a symptom of. Alongside tinnitus we have the generic hearing impairment with a well researched interconnectedness. As always, the author addresses these puzzling symptoms and conditions through bespoke nutrition, firstly investigating many of the causes of the above before applying bespoke nutrition. The author acknowledges that there are many devices that aid the above symptoms and conditions but argues that if the underlying cause is not corrected then any subclinical degeneration will eventually manifest itself and will be far harder, at that point, to reverse.
