Tim and Tina crossed the country hauling a load of highly toxic waste. Near the end of their journey, the two decide to pull over in a small NC town to get a bite to eat. As a super storm hangs over the horizon, everyone is unaware that the gates of hell were about to open, releasing it's evil to feast. As lightning sears across the sky, striking the mourners, the bodies awaken to hunt and eat on the living and each other. In the piercing darkness, no one knows who will survive until dawn.

Man-handled, Melinda Smith's seventh poetry collection, includes the found-text chapbook Listen, bitch plus new work from the last three years. Its central concern is gendered violence, both verbal and physical. These poems also extend their gaze to violences perpetrated in the names of colonialism, nationalism and capitalism. It has been called her angriest book yet. Despite this, there are also poems celebrating moments of connection and wonder.

This is a year in the life of the building that held all the action: Old Parliament House. One of the outcomes of a collaborative project between poet Melinda Smith and artist Caren Florance, this poetic work is an exercise in re-voicing the past and placing it in conversation with the present.
