Young William Shakespeare is well-pleased to leave his father's glove-making workshop for a promising new position at a grand mansion, but instead of good fortune, Will finds himself tricked and transported to a strange world called Middlemont where nature is ruled by magic and the pull of two large moons. Will quickly discovers that if he is ever to return to the arms of his beloved Agnes in Stratford, he must pay his way with a portion of rare medicine made from a powdered blue rose. There is also the problem of Will's father - his real father - the one Will knows nothing about. He too wants something from Will; but unfortunately, this is the one thing that Will cannot live without. Only when father and son collide, does Will discover the secret of his conception and the monstrous reason why he has been lured to this magical land.
A loving father disappears without a trace in the middle of the night. It is then left to Horatio, his young son, to take over the care of a very special tree, which produces a most unusual fruit - a crinkleberry. Once this berry is harvested, more mysterious events take place, which begin to explain why his father vanished in the first place. But can Horatio, and his new magical friend, Farildah, solve the secret of the crinkleberry tree in time? And even if they do, will they then be able to find a way to help his father return?
