In 1670 William Brooks left his home in Cambridgeshire full of hope. He travelled with two of his father's friends on a journey that would change his life. Onboard the 'Neptune' he experienced the death and depravity that came with living in a confined space with strangers. He would learn quickly that life on a ship travelling across the Atlantic held more than he bargained for.

The battles of Dunbar (September 1650) and of Worcester (September 1651) resulted in victory for Cromwell and defeat for the Royalists and Covenanters.Thousands of prisoners were taken at both battles their story is one of hardship, disease, pain and humiliation. Jamie Dower was one of those prisoners, his story is of determination and survival until he reaches a place where war is a thing of the past.
